Not a very good sign when you repeatedly contradict yourself and confuse even yourself in your own posts. First, you said that Moore will play the 4, then you said that taking Moore only helps IU's pitch with Wilkes, now you say that 2-4 positions do not matter at IU.

Which one is it? If 2-4 do not matter, and you add Moore, how exactly does it enhance the pitch to Wilkes? It may not matter because Wilkes is better and he may play over Moore anyway, but how does adding Moore exactly enhance the pitch to Wilkes? And OK, Wilkes may not care, Moore does not care either by the plethora of players at his potential positions (3 or 4) with a strong possibility of adding Wilkes to those players?

Didn't contradict myself at all. You are reading what you want into what I said ignoring the words that were said. Crean does indeed use 3s at other positions. The positions 2-4 are similar in his system I never said there was no difference but they are similar.

And as stated already it helps the pitch because there is now somebody on the bench to step up and play in the post in the event of an injury. Wilkes will be starting. And if we have a 4 or 5 go down we have a rotation of players to fill the gap in the line up.

Huh? LOL! Seems to me you can't even read. :hand:

For the record this is exactly what you said:

There really isn't that much difference between the 2-4 in Creans system.

Which is a sentence that is saying there are indeed differences? I don't see why you think that proves your point of claiming I said they were the same. They are similar. Playing 1 of the positions is unlikely to prohibit you from playing the others. Especially not at 6-10.

Your original point was that Wilkes will not have to play the 4, even if the starter at PF Morgan goes down. You actually made a strong point about Wilkes playing the SF position with Juwan Morgan as your starting 4. That was before Moore came into the picture. Then, when Moore emerged, you said that bringing Moore was clear message to Wilkes, that even if Morgan goes down he will not have to play the 4. Actually, that was your "enhanced" pitch to Wilkes, that he will not have to play the 4, i.e., he will not be used at the 4. Not the flexibility story.

Now after someone mentioned Moore as a 3, you wrote that 2-4 are not much different, changing your story. I have seen Wilkes multiple times, and let's leave 2 on the side here, because Wilkes is not a 2. But even if you say that 3-4 do not matter, adding Smith and Moore to the existing group (e.g., Morgan) at 3-4 definitely does not "enhance" the pitch. You already have a crowded field at 3-4 and you add more. What happened to the "enhanced" pitch?

According to Black & Gold, 2.5* PF 6'10" Sterling Manley from Ohio has named his final 4--WV, NC, Xavier, & Purdue.
What an odd final 4. It will be interesting to see how this one turns out. I think somebody posted on here awhile back that IU had some interest at one time.

North Carolina has struggled to get their targeted bigs. I think they're getting a bit desperate.

Speaking of NC, they had a love affair with Wilkes for about 2 weeks in late July/early August. Even to the point of having an OV scheduled. Then for some unknown reason, it was canceled and the relationship fell apart. Wilkes was also @ UK MM lasr year and nothing went forward. I guess this shows recruiting is fluid.:)

Shows Wilkes isn't enamored with shiny objects, just for the sake that they're blue bloods. Carry that a step forward and that's why I believe there's hope Wilkes will be contrarian and choose us.

He is just so creepy. He's landed big time recruits, but I just can't understand how a kid doesn't take one look at him, and run as fast as possible in the other direction.

Reports seem to be that Wilkes is a pretty intelligent kid. Kids with more going on upstairs are able to see through some of the flash of big name programs a bit easier.

Yup, another reason why people are comparing this recruitment to JCL's. I don't know how true this is but I recall some folks saying Mike Brey didn't really stress academics on JCL's visit(s) & Groce did the polar opposite to ultimately reel him in. On another note, Kiir has also mentioned academics are an important factor in his decision as well :thumb:

Rude of me to say glad he's not going to SLU? :D

SLU boards are much less boisterous than when last visited. They're now fixated on Hasahn French, 3 star PF, but Marquette is neck and neck with them in CBs and Marquette is putting the squeeze on French because of Tillman. btw, at least a couple of posters are blaming the St. Louis papers for not treating Allen like the improvement of sliced bread during his visit as a reason he didn't commit to them. Shades of a certain football coach.

Also, Purdue starting to get very antsy. Offered two 3 star bigs since Tillman picked MSU --Jerome Hunter and Aaron Wheeler. But pretty late in the day to be offering bigs, 3 star or not.

I'll look forward to playing a PU team that isn't ridiculously stacked in the paint.

It isn't unusual for board admins to have low-profile accounts to post as a "normal person" from time to time (I do that on a board I admin at), but they ordinarily try not to blow their cover.

Exactly what I've been thinking. Something about Wilkes just strikes me as one of the rare kinds of dudes at his age who can see past the BS and see things for what they are. It's why it also gives me hope that we are in this. Still not counting on a commitment from KW, though. I still think our best chance right now is with Kiir.

This should help with Kiir, because the 2 and 4 aren't much different in Gottfried's system, so I expect Allen would take PT away from Mayan...
