Where is the IU fan at that was pretty much saying Lefty was a liar and has been on here a lot claiming all this inside information. Sure have gotten wuiet since yesterday

Yes, and besides that he's even got quiet. :)

He's a 100% CB for the Ducks with the most recent pick coming in about two weeks ago.

Kigab may be a good indicator of where we stand with Wilkes. If he was down to us and Oregon, and the staff knows something, would be a good reason for him to pop now before someone else takes his spot at OU. If he picks us, maybe staff has heard from Wilkes and has decided to move on.

Or, the kid might just like Oregon better. Who knows!

Oregon just landed a 4* gaurd from TX. Could be a good week for them.

Obviously Wilkes would be a program changing recruit while Kigab would likely be more of a solid 4-year contributor, but either would be a massive get for Groce.

I'd feel great about the wing position post-Malcolm with a rotation of JCL, Kigab, Kipper, AJ, DJW, Da'Monte, and Pickett at the 2/3. Tons of length and athleticism.

Not that it would ever happen but... don't you think if there were a picture of Groce in Creans office, don't you think Wilkes would do the same?....

Sure, if Wilkes wasn't going to IU. The point is, text him.. fine whatever but texting him while sitting an opposing coaches office? Imagine if Wilkes did this while sitting in Groce's office. You're not feeling good about that, right?

It could also be as simple as Kigab is done with his visits and two schools stick out to him.

People are putting more stock to it than it deserves. Alford is part of IU's tradition, so it is understandable that his picture will be in IU facilities and offices. Bill Self still has a picture of Frank Williams' winning B1G shot at Minnesota in his office. I am pretty sure there are pictures of Powell, Jerrance and others who have moved on to our offices. Someone can say to Alford, why do you want me to go to UCLA, when yourself chose IU and led them to greatness? It is funny either way, but meaningless IMO.

Thank you. Sometimes we need to stop reading into so many things and remember that this is a 17 year old just reeling in this whole process.

I agree there's not a lot that Wilkes gave away in that article, but the one quote that stuck out to me was this one:

“I hear from (Indiana fans) all the time. But I have to decide where the best place is for me. Even if you don’t have as many fans, if that’s where you want to go, then that’s where you should go.”

I remember hearing a very similar quote from Goodwin after Tilmon committed and was trying to essentially say JG was a lock to us. That was not long before he committed to SLU. Might mean nothing, but just thought it was eerily similar. Hopefully he'll have a dream about being chased by a Chief :chief:, or a big Block I :illinois:. :thumb:

I agree that quote stood out, and if I remember correctly DRose said something similar. But it just sounds like what has been used by our #1 instate recruit on us multiple times.

Interesting times
1. Wilkes down to Illinois, Indiana and UCLA
2. Kiir down to Illinois , NC State and VCU
3. Kigab down to Illinois and Oregon

Seems like all three coming to a head real soon.

Which of the three is the most important for the Future? Not necessarily the best player.

Kigab visited Oregon the week before he visited us. Did he take any other OVs? He was scheduled to visit Cal on Oct 7, but I cannot find a sign that he went.

Wilkes, no question. Wilkes and Tilmon would give Groce 2 five stars. Both of them would probably be here two years and that lineup in 2018 would be out best in a decade by far.

If you're referring to me, I'm not an IU fan.

Also, never once said Lefty was a "liar". He knows a lot more than myself in most recruiting situations. Just wanted to share what I know.

With Kigab, I and probably everyone else think he is Oregon's. Would be surprised if he picked us.

It would be so nice to see Illinois Basketball relevant again!!!

Landing Wilkes a likely MCAA player, would give Illinois and Groce more acceptance among the elite players IMHO. Him being out of state, especially Indiana would be another bonus. Also having an impactful and long career in the NBA would be used in the future for recruiting.

Kiir could be a solid and needed 4 year player, but once again wouldn't give us the benefit in recruiting circles like Wilkes could.

I understand the significance of Alford at IU and am not questioning why Crean would have a picture of him in there.

I find it incredibly odd for IU that Wilkes would be texting Alford, who is thought to be Crean's main competition for Wilkes, while sitting in Crean's office. It read as a red flag to me that Crean couldn't hold Wilkes attention. Am I reading too much in to it? Sure, it is recruiting after all. But a very odd situation nonetheless - sorry if you disagree.
