In any normal situation, I'd be all aboard the SLU train on this (in terms of where I'd like him to pick out of those three), but this is a really tough call with Travis Ford's recent history with us in recruiting battles. I'd probably still rather he pick SLU than the other two, though. I can't totally wipe my casual SLU fandom away from when I was a kid and would go watch Spoonball.

How many pages back was it that someone was questioning taking a Tim Finke commit because of bigger fish like Gordon?

That's just cruel (I love it!) What's the equivalent of the swinging gate in hoops?

Yeah, he's such a bad coach that he's employed by one of the best organizations in the NFL. They must just have home on staff to recruit..

Ok, back to hoops recruiting!

Unless he has a special connection, I can't see why he wouldn't want to play on the bigger stage. State Farm Center, Bigger Crowds, Bigger stadiums around the Big 10, surrounded by a great recruiting class. Am I missing something? What is the allurement of VCU?

Probably the fact that they've been a vastly better program than us the last 10 years.

Luckily I think we have the best shot for Tim Finke. I think JG should keep focusing on him and make him a priority so he doesn't slip away.

Why would you want to play for SLU. I guess I dont get it

If you're from St. Louis, it's super close to home. Living downtown of a city and going to school has always been appealing to me. SLU is pretty damn good academically. Their stadium is still pretty brand spankin' new and very nice. Also, it's fresher in these millennials minds SLU being a a real player in the Tourney with Majerus than what we did in 2005 when they were 4/5 years old.

True. I wasn't necessarily saying why would you go there over UI, because obviously we have been bad for several years. But it's just interesting to see some of these big time recruits going there over the other typical places

St. Louis was in the tourney one time under Majerus. They won a first round game. That's it.

When I was about 10 or so I saw Charlie at a cards game sitting a section over. I've got his "Spoon" autograph somewhere on an old Busch stadium ticket stub

Just saw a note that October SAT scores are going to be available this week which led me to thinking about our 2017 recruits - do we know if they have all qualified yet?

I don't want to open a can of worms here, but I am trying to remember if we usually find out about qualifiers/non-qualifiers before signing day, after signing day or just at some random time. Really want to see the 2017 Verbals in O&B especially given the passion that they all seem to have for UI.

So while we technically still have a chance at Wilkes & Kiir, I guess the next things to look at for 2017s are qualifying, signing day, and 5th year options. Lookin for any insight on these moving forward.

Well, you never know for sure until the Clearing House approves them and sometimes that's not until after practice starts in the fall (poor Fess!).

And yeah, signing day is just 2 weeks from today!

Do kids have to take the SAT? I thought back in my day you could get by with just the ACT.

Top-10 prospect and Saint Louis native Carte’Are Gordon told ESPN he has committed to Saint Louis. HUGE pickup for Travis Ford & Co.
