It's all on TF, he could've committed anytime during his So or JR seasons and we would've welcomed him. He was too busy showing more interest in Ohio St & ND etc.

I think we get our wing within the next few days.:illinois: If not though, sure I could see TF as a possibility in the Spring.

To be fair, we were not exactly setting the world on fire. Iirc, the Finke family was not especially enamored with Groce, so we're holding off on any commitment. In the meantime, Tim WAS getting interest from strong programs. It was in his best interest to explore all options.

Underwood came in and was evaluating all options. Unfortunately for Tim, he hit a rough patch.

Perhaps one of those situations that worked well for us, but unfortunately not so well for the recruit. I hope he is happy wherever he goes, sincerely.

We are set up beautifully for a 2019 big big. Tons of playing time and a good sample size of Underwood's style, which should be very appealing to athletes. Okoro is quasi-elite, but not a top 20 guy, so that augurs well for us. His comments after the unofficial were encouraging (yeah, when are they not?). Would love to land him and Liddell.

WRT Liddell and Whitney, know they bring different skill sets, but do you think they are mutually exclusive? FWLIW, I'd love both, but that's a major longshot.

And which rules would those be again that supersede the First Amendment?

Well played.

Not sure what OP meant, as media can say, report anything. Coaches of course can't talk about recruits by name anytime before signing the LOI.

Back to recruiting, we need some good news soooooon.

Put in it In the books guy. We have locked down the Finn. He will be an Illini before the 17th. He will be announcing on his time. It's a good day to be an Illini fan.

That's good news, although personally I'm partial to The Mighty Finn

Nolley's HS coach sheds some light on what transpired...

Rory Welsh is the head coach at Langston Hughes High School in suburban Atlanta, where the 6-foot-4 Nolley helped lead the team to a state title last spring. In an interview Tuesday morning, Welsh said Nolley made an "emotional decision" coming off his visit to Athens last weekend and rushed an announcement based on a preset timetable.

The looming FBI investigation into corruption in college basketball is also a factor, Welsh added. That could push a decision until the spring to give it time to shake out.

I am not so sure the FBI will have completed anything by spring. Fed work doesn't always move swiftly.

Completed may not be the right word. But seeing what else they've uncovered by the spring will certainly play into may recruits decisions.

Agree. Might that be possible good sign for us? If underwood is not implicated by then, and Ayo commits here, maybe he rethinks things wrt Illinois?

Not holding my breath, just speculating. Don't recall VT being implicated as of yet so they are my guess.

waiting till spring is not good. That just gives more time for other schools to get involved. It also allows blue bloods that missed on top recruits to turn their focus to Nolley.

I hope you guys/gals are right. I would be very happy with both of these guys in O&B!

Be careful with accounts like IlliniSuperFan. Sometimes people will create accounts when they know a commitment is imminent and spread information that may or may not be accurate.

Hopefully by spring it doesn't matter because Liddell is locked up. I realize there is a height/build difference but I think in BU's offense they would be fairly interchangeable and Liddell will be better.

With Elias having a good visit, Ayo this weekend, I see Nolley as an after thought. We are not begging anyone to play here.
Commit Elias, have a good weekend with Ayo, look for the commit, then wait and see on rest. We could wait till spring wouldn't hurt my feelings any. The Castleton thing was really a disappointment, alot of time spent for nothing. No worries hold the 3rd ride open, focus on Ayo, and play ball.;):illinois:

If by "we" you mean message board posters like you, then yes.

As for the coaches, they beg players all the time - it's called recruiting. That's one of the reasons they hate it so much.

I don't think this coaching staff is begging anyone.

Based on the photo in the tweet below - i'm guessing that could be EV's mother sitting next to him?

If that's his mom, then what McColley said about her doesn't make a ton of sense.

Cause I am bored today, I updated Elias' wikipedia page to represent his updated recruitment by Illinois and Arizona State.
