Boy sacraig, funny guy.....you missed my point......being around the U of I today was so depressing....you don't think they feel that? They are seeing U of I fans, regardless of the sport.....smart guy

I am sure he was really depressed when, despite the football game, a bunch of basketball fans showed up to Ubben to watch his individual workout and cheer for him.

Let's repeat that, on a football gameday, a group of students decided that, instead of tailgating, they would cheer for a basketball recruit's workout in person. The must reflect really poorly on the team's fanbase.

sorry guys for posting....just saw the atmosphere around the UofI and Ayo was here....no, it's not basketball, but what do you think he is thinking....I guess we will find out....

Maybe they took him to the volleyball game tonight. Illini up 2 sets to none and the volleyball team usually has great/enthusiastic crowds. :chief:

We are so gun shy, we might be underestimating just how big this is.
Final official visit.

Imagine if we end up with Ayo, THT, and Finke. The same group we thought we would heavily pursue 6 months ago.

I'm not sold that Finke's stock will remain down. 6-6 to 6-7 combo guards that can shoot and have other tools will do well in college. His stock will rise again during the season.

I would would be ecstatic if that happened. But if we land THT and Ayo (by the grace of 6lb 8oz baby Jesus), we won't sign Finke, imo. Would rather have some random big man the staff finds.

I’m fairly confident that the Finke ship has sailed. Even if we wanted to re-engage, I don’t think he would be receptive.

That tweet about Talen is from October 4th, nothing is set as of now. It would most likely be that weekend if it comes to fruition.

Can he shoot tho?

Several people have said that lately, but he seems more like the kind of kid who would realize he dropped the ball and then work hard to get his name back on the radars of the big boys and be receptive to them if/when he succeeds.

Till Talen posted I wouldn't hold my breath on a visit. Seems Ayo visit is going well, awesome to have students making a big deal about Ayo.

Not to sure that there is texting going on behind the scenes with any or all this group, it's the way most all younger people do. All the inside info in world may not be close to what they are doing.
Our season and theirs are getting close to starting, here's hoping that we have the commits we want soon, and we are ready to focus on playing basketball. :thumb::illinois:

Roy. Why. What is this Daruish guy doing?! Why can't Ayo just have the spotlight during his visit and enjoy the lime-light and THT can have the same next week! Why post tweets and shift focus during such a crucial period... I can't stand ppl sometimes!!

This guy acts like he's completely blind to the "alleged" friction between these two recruits, and he could care less about the School or the players, but more so about likes & retweets... im disgusted!

Unless THT officially tweets or releases something.. sit down & shut up!!

Sounds like we were a lot closer with Brunson than I thought.

Henricksen: The power of the official visit (and what it could mean for Ayo Dosunmu)

A lot of revisionist history in the article. I have no idea whether Jalen told Rick that he was ready to commit to UI after his Illinois visit. That part, only Jalen and Rick know for sure. But the part where Jalen visited Villanova and then sat down calmly to make a decision away from emotions is as believable as Patrick Ewing making his massage appointment.

Before Jalen left Villanova, he did tell Jay Wright that he was committing and set his announcement. Actually, Rick himself gave a courtesy call to his alma mater, the Temple coaches, to let them know that Jalen was going to Villanova. So while Rick did not allow Jalen to make an emotional decision while at lllinois (assuming that is true), he was perfectly fine allowing Jalen to make an emotional decision while on his visit to Villanova, and calling the Temple coaches himself.

Groce was a great recruiter just had bad luck closing. He gets one of those top PG prospects just once he still has a job here. But with that being said I love Brad Underwood and the new staff!!! Wrap up AYO and we back.

B.S. He couldn't recruit a quality PG to save his life. Big deal -- he got a top 50 SG and a top 50 PF? Doesn't matter w/o a decent PG.

Your standard for "great recruiter" is very low.

Why are we debating the recruiting ability of Akron's coach?

I've been saying that Nolley is likely to follow Ayo for weeks now, good to see some of you are coming to your senses.

I'd be surprised to see it this fall. Reading your posts, I don't think you factor in how much this FBI thing has changed the scope of national recruiting. Right now why would the Illini want to bring that extra attention on themselves? If he goes to the Illini, most likely it is in the spring.

I highly doubt any coaches are walking the grey line right about now, if Nolley did in fact commit to us this fall, I'd assume it was fair play. Just my opinion

How do you know about this call to the temple coaches?

What? Unless the Illini have something to hide this is just crazy talk. Telling a recruit who wants to commit, and is tier 1 on our wanted board to wait would be a terrible move. Imagine how that would go over on the 'national recruiting' scene.

So would I. But I am not with the FBI or NCAA or a coach that is looking for something to mention casually to a recruit to give me a recruiting edge.

I would just be surprised if Nolley signs with us this fall. But I would not be disappointed of course. LOL

I still contend JG was a good recruiter but not a real good coach or recruiting strategist ( aiming too high, no fallback, transfer chaos, yada yada).

BU is a coach first....I think in a few years we can compare BU and Cuonzo and determine what is more important...hiring a recruiter or a coach.
