Can you imagine playing pickup at IMPE with Kofi

I played vs Anthony Welch and Quinn Richardson. Welch just hung around outside shooting jumpers but Quinn was dominating. This was when he could not get off the bench.
Played with Harp, Battle, Gill, Nick, Ervin, Liberty, Larry Smith and several others. Likely the best I played with at Impe or Huff at that stage of their lives though were Harper and someone that wasn't even an Illini but a former Houston Rocket who was dismissed from the league after playing vs the Lakers. That player was in Mitchell Wiggins, Andrew's dad. He was a beast. It's was a blast growing up in CU and living at Huff and IMPE several hours a week for about 20 years Mitchell was a great guy as were several of them. My wife actually sold Nick Anderson his first wife's wedding ring at JC Penny! Lol

Echoes not too shabby either.
Not to get on a tangent and hi jack the thread, but yes I agree. Division Bell has quite a few good ones too. Got to see them on their last tour in '94, best concert I've ever been too ( I've been to over 200 concerts) and it's not even close!

Had there been anything credible regarding Miller? Or are we just taking that and running with it?

Kofi if he comes back is our lone senior
Coleman Hawkins is our lone junior
Talk about getting young fast

We will be a very different team than this year. I am excited.

I want to see Illinois fast break, drive to the hoop, press. Bring back the Flying Illini!

Crazy times - last year we lost all of our assistant coaches, this year we have all our starters graduate or go to NBA
TSJ will be a senior. Apparently that was what is/was causing the admissions issue.

I played in a game at IMPE with Nick, Wiggins and several of those you mentioned. Heck…might have been the same day. My only vivid memory is running up and down the court and watching Nick and Mitchell trade hitting 25+ft 3pter’s. That and that fact that for brief moments the speed of the game was a bit mind boggling. I did get a single rebound…didn’t do another thing. LOL

I am SURE we played against each other but I didn't make your list...lol. A great time to be at U of I and at IMPE.....especially the first court!

Personally, i think if Kofi was a better rim protector he would be in the NBA already, his feet arent great but i feel like they are serviceable if he could protect the rim at an nba level. Also im not saying he isnt a good rim protector at the college level
I agree totally. I feel like if he got some kind of strength training to get another four to six inches of vertical leap, he would be an amazing prospect. Sometimes he doesn't quite get up there for the blocked shots, occasionally comes up short on a dunk. There's a downside to being 285, even if it is mostly lean.

I went most everyday at Huff and got the second game. I think the games there on center court were way tougher than IMPE most days. I got the second game downs because Mitchell warmed up with a beaded jump rope before he played. I got to know him pretty well and that got to be a routine He gave me a nickname and my strategy paid off because with him on my team we rarely lost! I clearly remember shooting warming up before we played and talking about the Bulls 5th overall pick from a D2 school with him neither of us heard of but he was sure he had to be good. That was Scottie Pippen. Lol Good Times, I'd love someone like Mitchell as our wing.

Agreed. If he were to add a 3 to his game, his prospects would grow tremendously.
Do you wonder if that's something he could show at individual workouts? He's made some jumpers out to about 15 or so this year. If he just worked on that somewhat on his own time, he might be almost proficient at it by time of draft time workouts.

Shooting 3's in a workout is entirely different than making them in a game. I bet Kofi could shoot 50% from three in practice with a token hand in his face.

I must have played with you as well. I remember playing with Mitchell Wiggins many, many times at IMPE and all the guys from the Flying Illini. I remember Larry Smith being a monster at IMPE but not doing much in actual Illini games.
