Should be an excellent role player
he's going to be a good enough role player
I guarantee you Domansk plays a ton.

A 23 year old with 105 career starts on a good team in a good mid-major league with a solid-all-around game is going to soak up minutes all over the place.

This board will complain he's playing too much at some point next year. It does raise the unavoidable question of what is the right mix of one-and-done mercenaries.

Real happy for the young man. Feels good to get one under our belt after everything else that has happened.

Does the Tyson Walker back to MSU open back up the possibility of Fears? If I remember correctly, guaranteed playing time at the PG spot was the sticking point for us, we sure seem to have that compared to MSU at this point?

Fears has already signed a NLI with MSU. He’s not leaving that or asking out of it.

I have seen many of Domask's games the past four years. I think Illini fans will really like his game. More importantly, I think BU will love his game. I would guess all the kid wants to do is win and play in the NCAA tourney for the first time in a brilliant career. He's not going to be trying to impress NBA scouts. He's already put his name in the SIU record books with more than 1,600 points, 550 rebounds and 350 assists. If he had stayed there, he likely would have ended up being the all-time leading scorer, which tells me he values winning over his personal stats. IMHO, he's more than a glue guy, but he's definitely a glue guy, if that makes any sense.

I think the sticking point was more demands from the parents on how their son should be played.

I just don't think Fears is a good enough shooter. Kid has the athleticism, good ball handler and passer, tough kid, but he's not tall and not a great shooter. In the Big Ten, it's not that hard to keep a 6 ft guy away from the rim, at some point he'll have to knock down shots to be really great.

And ultimately No, he's not backing out at this point. Doesn't mean he won't transfer in a year though.

Pretty excited about the Domask add.

Consistency at the free throw line and the ability to comfortably operate as a PnR ball-handler from the wing are very valuable, as is the shooting stroke. If he can bump that 35% mark up to 38% or so, that would be huge — and if we can land a star PG that would surely help nudge the percentage up as he’ll get better looks. Really like his quick release.
