I mean, it wasn't exactly big news (though his dad apparently threw a fit about Underwood recruiting another walk-on over him). Thanks boss, must've just missed it. Good luck Paxton, hope you find some PT somewhere
Brad yelled at him.So why did he leave?
Well LSU has more guys currently in the NBA than the Illini so it depends on perspective but from that view point it certainly close. LSU did stink last season but they do have more guys in the league.Say what you want about some of these guys transferring out, but not a single one has gone to an equal or better program. Not even close to be honest
Remember when we used to use this argument about our football team in the Zook era?Well LSU has more guys currently in the NBA than the Illini so it depends on perspective but from that view point it certainly close. LSU did stink last season but they do have more guys in the league.
Was he actually making anything here though? lolLike a week and a half ago
On another note word is big zoom meeting with Milton, BU, Whitman, and big boosters. This week.
when a walk-on’s folks start mouthing off to the coach , it’s time for the walk on to walk off
Well like I said from a players perspective it matters. If your players make the NBA that will matter to them. Much like similar reasons a lineman may want to play for coach B. He put players in the NFL instead of teams with more success historically.Remember when we used to use this argument about our football team in the Zook era?
I love following Illini in the pros, but I'm watching them in the hopes they win now. I'm sure the 10 fans of LSU basketball in Baton Rouge feel the same way, former faves in the pros or no.

The last time I paid attention to Georgia recruiting it involved Litterial Green.
I thought so too, but didn’t want to be wrong- although I should be used to it by now according to the Mrs.Pretty sure that was Indy
How does recruiting a walk on over another walk on work....???? I mean, usually walk ons are used in practice for a variety of positions and reasons....and usually little if any actual PT in games after Thanksgiving....so...what am I missing????I mean, it wasn't exactly big news (though his dad apparently threw a fit about Underwood recruiting another walk-on over him).
Yep, plus not just walk ons. I get being confident but so many parents and players themselves think they are better than they actually are. I recall back in the day waiting for open gym in the stands at Huff watching freshman try and guard Harper or others when practice was winding down. There needs to be balance between being confident, realistic, and humble too. If good players wait, learn and develop their time will come if they deserve it.It sucks when parents step over the line and it impacts the kid … Happens WAY too often …

Even though we knew he was coming to the beloved out of high school, was ASU not the other team when he narrowed his list to two?I bet the house on Adam Miller to ASU when he entered the portal … I’m just here to collect …
Agree for the most part, Pru, but there are going to be some exceptions. For example, I will ALWAYS cheer for and follow a one year player like Terrence Shannon, Jr., (unless he ends up transferring to another team) because of his huge advocacy for the Illinois program and its coach. The same with Alfonso Plummer. These guys were transfers who earned my respect and support for their efforts for our Illini……This reinforce's my statement that going forward I will limit my attachment to the MBB players until they attend at least 3 years at UI......................This wild , wild west scenario is gonna be hard for me to get used to as I have fond memories of a player being recruited , then graduating from the University of Illinois after 3-4 years of donning the O & B............
Not sure I remember him (had to look him up). Ended up being drafted to the nuggets as the 54th overall pick. Not too bad, as a senior as you pointed out.Schafer did OK at Iowa State as he averaged 18 a game his senior year. Jones did well at Southern Utah this last year. Bucket machine.

I’m on a few different Illini Fan Facebook pages, and after Paxton announced he was leaving, there were many, many posts made by his dad on almost all of them about how unfair BU was to his son, and how his son should have played more minutes. He also sarcastically trash talked the new walk-on that since his family was a friend of BU, the new kid would get his son’s minutes. Some parents just don’t get it…You mean what is Paxton's dad missing.
Johnny Orr. Three time MVP at Beloit, two time All American. Still stands as second best scorer in school history.Which transfer from Illinois has had the biggest impact for his new team?
