I'm just not sure who's available. Zyon Pullin already announced his top 4 or 5 schools. If we can belatedly get in there that would be awesome but I'm not sure that's a possibility.

What about DeShawndre Washington from New Mexico State? Morgan Park kid. He's 6-7 but listed as a guard. Averaged 12 points, 7 boards, 4 assists last year. Haven't watched film on him, but the location makes sense. Wouldn't be a true PG though obviously.

Per On3, the highest-rated PG left in the portal behind Pullin is.... Andre Curbelo. There just don't seem to be many great options out there.

Kinyon Hodges from EIU is in the portal -- he's a combo guard but averaged 14.4 points and 2.7 assists. 35.3% from 3.

Yeah...not so sure if I would say that we still can't get someone very good. Stay tuned. Just heard something very interesting

You're making the case Illinois should have never waited on him.
Honestly, how many of us had ever heard of him before he emerged on this board as a possibility? He isn't even in consideration on NBA draft boards. The idea that he's the difference between heaven and hell seems far-fetched. We don't need his scoring so the real key is whether we have someone who can competently bring the ball up and initiate the offence. I find it hard to believe we can't find someone either on the roster or in the portal.

More seriously though, this is the risk of high-end portaling. I don't see this as similar to the Eric Gordon or Cliff Alexander debacles, it's just somewhat what you sign up for when going with this approach for high talent players. Sometimes you win like we did last year with TSJ, and sometimes you lose like we did this year with RayJ.
Is it too late for Baylor's admissions office to bail us out? Asking for a friend.

I think it is worth some thought. Kid is a wizard with the ball in his hands. Maybe he has matured some. I always liked him, however,
wasn't sad to see him go with Epps coming in. Well, that ship has sailed and there are not many, if any, worth pursuing at this point. Just saying.
He pretty much told the coaching staff to F off at halftime of the Houston game. Sorry guys but it ain’t happening.

Seems like there were enough red flags with this behavior to at least have a better back up plan. I’m sure they’ll find someone that will be ok but the ceiling is now lower which is disappointing given the potential of the rest of the roster. His seat should be warming up for sure. An old school coach like Underwood is not going to make it through controversies of being tough on players without more post season success.
There is a big difference in between saying this with knowledge of what the backup plan is vs. just being frustrated because you don’t know what the backup plan is. Shame on Brad for not sharing these details with us!

I'm not a basketball guru, so someone put me in my place ... but if Sincere even had a passable jump shot, no one would be worrying at all!
I am also no basketball genius but had a similar thought about Harris. The effort, energy, defense and pace this kid played at as a freshman was impressive. It’s fair to assume neither he nor Epps are finished products and can grow into a bona fide college PG. No?

We just dont want a repeat of last year, and thats the direction we are headed.
Last year we were one of the youngest and most inexperienced teams in the country, this year we will be old and experienced. Find a solid pg to get people the ball in the right spots and lets let our future pros show why we wanted them back so badly

Tell him to either take it or leave it several weeks ago.
I'm not trying to single you out but I don't understand this mindset. What did he do wrong? He went to the end of the evaluation process and listened to what the scouts had to say. Listened to all the coaches that were recruiting him, and then make a decision on what he felt was best for him. He never committed to us. We didn't have to keep recruiting him. Since he chooses someone else than us it leaves a bad taste in several of your mouths. Don't understand that at all.

I've felt for a while that the portal could be BU's undoing. I'm just not sold on the way he's gone about roster construction the last year - placing so much more value on getting old and staying old via the portal versus building a roster that can sustain success for the long term. Your margin for error is just so thin when you go all in on the portal.
