That Jamal Murray guy is pretty good.

Seriously though, we aren't exactly dead in the water like some are claiming. I know its been said, but who were the star PGs in the Final Four this year?

Butler? Ok he's pretty good but 9pts 3ast avg and 1.6:1 a/to. Not awe inspiring and surely we can get that same kind of production.

Newton? Looks like a similar player to Williams.

I dont think the other 2 teams (FAU, Miami) even had anyone average 3 apg. Oh wait, I beg your pardon? Miami's SHOOTING GUARD led the team in assists??? GASP.

If anything, this past college season showed us the opposite of what many have been saying. A top PG is not a necessity to win basketball games.

And all of this is really moot as it seems we're still hunting for that big time PG everyone wants.
To be fair to Miami they were absolutely loaded with guards. Wong, Pack, Miller, and Poplar is an insanely talented group of guards.

Or maybe you're a guy who doesn't understand how much impact the schedule has on who wins the regular season conference championship now.

Because, you know, it's not 1989 anymore.
Do you think seeding has any impact on who enjoys tournament success?

Do regular season results have any impact on seeding?

I like a meal analogy. Recruiting news is the appetizer. The preconference games are the soup and salad bar. The conference games are the main course. The post season conference tournament is coffee. The NCAA tournament is dessert. The NIT is leftovers.

A simpler analogy. The regular season is meat & potatoes. Postseason play is the gravy.

The last 4 years in league play. Doesn’t just happen. Brad can coach. Some of you last night were wild. He makes adjustments. Every coach at that level knows all the zone defenses all the offenses, yet you know how many coaches don’t ever go to zone? A vast majority of them.

We don't need a top PG or elite PG. But a decent one or better play from that spot sure helps a lot.
We had high TO%, low Assist rate, abysmal 3 point %, and were 68th overall in Off in country.
And, it's going to be helpful if guys don't bring the ball down and shoot a heavily contested three before running any offense at all.

To play devils advocate he isn’t here to score.
If your opponent knows that, which they quickly will, that can be a big problem. Playing 4 on 5 on offense is very hard. I remember teams barely guarding Chester on the perimeter. It led to some rough offense.

So while part of me says, we just need a guy that can facilitate and get the other guys good looks, another part of me says you can't be shooting 27% from 3 or they won't guard you. They will sag and make one of those other guys your trying to facilitate have a harder time getting open. If you get fouled and can't make your FTs, it can be almost the same as a TO. And of course the injury is a big concern.

All this talk about PG’s. I’m very content with this roster right now. We have the star power in Shannon surrounded by some experienced tough dudes who know how to play the game. Might not get a lot of national love until games start but they’ll be one tough out come March. I’m confident in that.

No one mentions the Michigan game when Ayo was out. Won by 20. Had to be able to coach to do that. Lots of examples of games like that, but everyone wants to talk about Loyola of Chicago. Smh.

I completely understand what you are saying however going to a zone coming out of a timeout or just switching looks occasionally to make the other team a little more uncomfortable is definetly different than completely running or switching to a zone for an extended period of time. Regardless of what is said about his adjustments, etc. Dain drop coverage was atrocious and teams had a free throw line jumper at will against us last year. I still have nightmares about Perkins having a career night at Iowa City against us last year. The drop coverage was trash.

The season is a dinner date:
Non-con: appetizer
Conference: Main course
Conf Tourney: Dessert
NCAA: Taking her home … after that, your success is somewhat dependent on luck and timing, but it’s also ultimately what you’re most likely to remember

Kendric prince on a podcast said he won't get it
Is it possible that a deal was made behind the scenes with Williams that if he did not get the waiver he would withdraw ?

May sound crazy but hell, I just decided to join the rest in conspiracy theories.

I wouldn’t lump Skyy and DGL together as freshman PGs - they are very different players

Skyy was looking to get his points while DGL is a very good ball handler/quick penetrating PG and will just look to run the offense his freshman year- him getting 7-8 min per game as PG2 would not be a bad thing
Good change DGL will stick around the entire year one as well.

I just skipped to the end. Did I miss anything important?
We were told repeatedly never to trust anyone

Some people justifiably concerned about Williams' injury

LvilleILL says we're not done yet with additions

A whole lot of negativity but a little less than yesterday

The NCAA tournament is either like gravy on your plate or like getting lucky with your date

Apparently Sean isn’t too keen on ‘em either…(Unless, he’s trying to make a statement; I guess?)

Seems like there’s actually quite a few similarities between Sean and Brad…probably not surprisingly.

Found this old chestnutt:

Season 9 Thank You GIF by The Office

Edit: Can it also be like putting gravy on your date?
