After the RayJ heartbreak, which I read about 10 minutes before a client meeting in a waiting room...I ride or die with our insiders.

If Illinois hadn't played against him for 4 years and most fans drawn their own conclusions that he was unlikeable!!! His court play embodies "everyday guys"

Near perfect fit for 2023/24.
He is solid. He is not perfect. We have had some that would be though. Dwill, or a guy like Harper would be perfect. Gill, Bardo or Douglas would be better too. But hey I grew up, lived, and even played in some pick up games with many of them. Growing up and living in CU during the mid 70s to early 2000s was cool. Gill left me tickets on the road at Ole Miss since I was in the area when they played and I barely knew him . He was cool. I would be pleased with the Rutgers PG but I was admittedly somewhat spoiled during that time frame. Harp was my favorite.

So we like Rutgers Paul Mulcahey as the solution to our PG deficiency?

the hobbit bilbo GIF
With his size, perimeter defense, ability to get into the lane, the ability to distribute the ball, ability to get into the lane and finish, his ability to make free throws late.... unequivocally yes, that would be the solution. The fit would be perfect.

Reeves should be entering the portal soon. Michigan as the early favorite, but we will be involved and have a decent chance to get him if we push. We may be waiting on someone else though as well...
So who looses their scholarship if he comes

It was between this and History of the World Part 1 when I was selecting which GIF to use. I went with History of the World. I am glad someone else is likeminded.
It's basically Loyalty's version of Jokic and Murray working the pick-and-roll: teamwork and numerous permutations that put the rock in the hole.

it sucks in a vacuum.
Probably easier to say in hindsight but given a choice between Mulcahy and RayJ, I think Mulcahy is actually a better fit for our roster.

I will stipulate that RayJ is the more talented player in a vacuum. But he’s not overly big or long, not overly quick or explosive. Also would probably look to be a top 2-3 scoring option. I don’t know how well he will be able to get his own shots or defend at the P5 level. Of course a sample size of only one game, but he went 5-19 against a Michigan team that did have length and athleticism but I wouldn’t say was overly locked in on the defensive end. Great playmaker though.

Terrance will probably average close to 20PPG. Coleman will probably look to be more assertive offensively based on NBA feedback. Domask and Quincy are both capable offensive players. Dain needs and deserves touches. Luke needs shots. We don’t need a star/alpha at the PG. We need someone who can operate within ball screens, make the correct reads and set up teammates, and ideally play good defense and be able to knock down enough open shots to keep defenses honest. Mulcahy fits that to a T. And although annoying to play against I think he would fit in great with Ty, Sencire, and Jeremiah.

If I was picking first in a pickup game I probably grab RayJ. But for this roster I think Mulcahy type player is a perfect fit. It’s not always about landing the splashiest names but finding the right missing pieces. Hope we get Mulcahy or someone like him.
I’m a Rockford guy too and I actually agree with you. Didn’t know any other Rockford people were smart

Why are you on here if you’re not looking to learn about some rumors?
So are you telling me everything on this forum is a rumor? I'm guessing Indy, Louisville, Headband and illini0440 would probably disagree about that. Pretty sure most of what they say is not a "rumor."

Why is Reeves wanting to leave Kentucky? Seems like an odd move to go from Kentucky where he played a ton to Memphis which is definitely a step down. Is it just a money thing?
I think Kentucky has like 7 scholarship players right now (CBS Sports Podcast) Not sure if that is excluding the 2023 class? Hard to lookup but that could be a reason

Sounds to me like we’ll not go all out for Reaves (or he’ll just want to go to Michigan anyways) and we’ll say it’s cause Mulcahey is portaling. Then Mulcahey (who is current not even guaranteed to portal) will either not enter or even if he does, just as likely to go elsewhere as he is to Illinois (he is from NJ and hard to believe he’d transfer to a conference rival). So all in all, sounds unlikely to me! Hope I’m wrong

Let me know if we are ever at the same party so I can stand on the other side of the room.
