Why is Reeves wanting to leave Kentucky? Seems like an odd move to go from Kentucky where he played a ton to Memphis which is definitely a step down. Is it just a money thing?

Share the court with 8 freshman who are ball hogs and chuckers … Or go play with a few veterans at Memphis against lower level comp and raise your numbers … Penny isn’t a bad coach either …

No done deal he goes to Memphis … But for what he’s looking for, they’re the best fit IMO …

Smart money is also always on Slick Rick …

Is it? We will potentially have Dain, Amani, and Morez up front. Williams, Rodgers, Goode, Harris, DGL (Morreti?) playing 1-3. The reason we have so many super seniors is because that's what we have targeted in the portal. We'll very likely be portal shopping next off-season as well. I think by design.
Inevitably there will be Transfers, and trying to build a roster on Transfers every year seems doomed to just go completely busto at some point. We're already seeing diminishing returns in the quality of transfers we can pull from this year compared to last.

The fact that I'm not even hearing Illinois being mentioned for any outstanding 2024 recruits is pretty concerning. Feels like Underwood is getting a bit desperate.

Very true. To borrow a term, the transfer market seems like "fool's gold." You might strike here and there (love TSJ) but the long term health of a program likely remains traditional HS recruits. The current system is not sustainable. Hopefully, we do not lose sight of traditional recruiting to chase transfers year after year.

Well we have Morez who is a stud.
I think all of these coaches are scrambling to figure this out.
I really don't mind it.

Paul Mulcahy pulls name out of NBA Draft: Will Rutgers guard return?

The Scarlet Knights guard has not announced a decision yet.

By Greg Patuto@GregPatuto Jun 2, 2023, 9:53am EDT

The NBA released a list on Thursday sharing the name of 108 players that have elected to withdraw their names from the 2023 NBA Draft. Mulcahy’s name was on the list, meaning that he will not be apart of the draft but he has not officially shared his plans for next year. Mulcahy did not publicly announce his withdrawal.

This news came one day after Cliff Omoruyi announced his return to Rutgers for his senior year ahead of the deadline. Like Omoruyi, Mulcahy holds options such as attempting to sign a contract overseas. Unlike Omoruyi, Mulcahy has the option of entering the transfer portal as a graduate student. Of course, the Scarlet Knights saw Cam Spencer take this option.

It is unknown when Mulcahy will publicly share his plans for next season but do not expect one this week. When the announcement is made, it will continue to shine a light on the expectations and hype around this Rutgers team next season.

Mulcahy would fit well with the team. A tall PG who is passed first but can make his own shot when necessary. His height on both offense and defense would be excellent. Could see Shannon and Coleman doing some bringing up the ball as well with Mulchahy being primary.

this is where I'm at.

Realistically we are going to need 6-9 new players next year, my guess is on the higher side. We are going to have no continuity. This year we have Shannon and Hawkins to be team leaders. Next year, no clue who it will be. We'll have 3 or 4 new starters, new go to guy, new PG, all unfamiliar with the system or their teammates.

It feels like short term decisions are being made at the expense of long term program/roster building. I don't think that's sustainable.
