The coaches seem to be incredibly high on Butler. I look forward to watching him wearing O & B

He is comparing Sean Miller v Underwood. A previous poster called SM a cheater, crook, or some other synonym.
Indy is painting the picture that most programs pay players even before NIL.
It is not hard to find evidence of BU's former programs being investigated.
I agree. I made a comment a few days ago and it still rings true. BU is a master at playing in the grey area. That's just where you want to be. You're not cheating, but you are toeing the line, which is something that JW shouldn't have to look the other way on. That was the part that got my attention. JW is a pretty upstanding guy. I don't believe him yo be one what takes the...."if I didn't see it, it didn't happen" approach. I'm not an inside and I could 100% be wrong.

What SM did at Arizona.....that wasn't good. I wouldn't put BU in the same paragraph as that guy. Again, could be wrong.

Butler is going to be really good in college
In your opinion, is he a guy that could hit the ground running from day 1 or is there a lot of physical development needed? As we sit here today, there are going to be a ton of minutes available. I'm sure that transfers(probably high profile ones) are going to ultimately end up taking those minutes.

People should be trusting the staff. They’ve done really well with three stars.

Coleman Hawkins
Alan Griffin
Georgie B

Ate three really good finds in what, 6 years coach has been here?

That’s not counting the guys they grabbed early that ended up being 4 stars later on.

Good question. I think seeing how he looks against college level competition will obviously be important, but I would not be surprised if he is one of those under the radar guys that surprises people and can give 10-15 good minutes a game his freshman year. I think he can be really good. And yes, there will likely be four transfers coming in (maybe one more), so minutes will have to be earned

Should we be looking at Butler's teammate Semetri Carr? Continuity for him could be good later on, and he seems like a solid PG. Also, any updates on the Benet kid? Need to lock up the locals of that caliber. Let's get it done quickly, BU.

I’d expect Jace to get no more tick than what DGL is getting this year. We’ll see. Would love to see him prove me wrong.

See next year’s team starters as Ty, Sencire, Luke, Amani and Dain with Morez, Nico, DGL off the bench. Not trying to start discussion on starters but positions seeked in transfer market. Team seems well balanced but no one close to replacing TJ. Sencire can come close defensively and DGL can probably score but no one close as a two way player. Guessing a rim protector and a scorer but would have to be stars not role players.

There will be transfers that end up being starters I’m sure.

They will get a portal guy to replace TJ and said portal guy will start

That lineup is building Dollar Generals all over the Midwest. I don’t see Sincere or Dain in the long term picture just my opinion tho

Love the optimism but all Big ten players don't grow on trees let alone all American players. I know we have been spoiled with ayo, kofi, and TJ the last few years but I assume it will have to be a money ball approach next year and get a couple of really good guys and not bank on that home run get. I could be was off from what the staff has in the pipeline though

Speaking of being spoiled with Ayo/Kofi/TSJ, I don't think its coincidence that none of them were supposed to be 1st Team AAs.

Using 247, Ayo was ranked #30 in his class. Kofi was ranked #54 in his class. TSJ was ranked #127 in his class.

None of those guys were supposed to get anywhere close to sniffing a 1st Team AA selection.

We have had pretty good luck with transfers (but is it really luck, though?): Guerrier, Harmon, Domask, Dainja, TSJ, Mayer, Plummer, Grandison, Feliz.

I think through everything, this staff has proven themselves as being pretty darned good at a couple of things that really matter when shopping the portal (and probably overall, not just with portal guys), and that is (1) scouting player talent/ability and (2) player development.

You could also say I'm just a big ol' Illinois homer, and that's true , but I think the statements above are also all true.

That starting 5 would make last years team look like the Golden State Warriors when comparing shooting ability.

“You’re not cheating, but toeing the line”? You can spin it any way you want, but yes he was cheating, but didn't get caught. All big time programs are.

Based on the returning production, we need more than just a tweak or two. We're losing 85% of our scoring and that's not including anyone who might potentially transfer out. Scorer, needs to multiple to scorer(s).
