As an Arizona alum (and grad asst. coach), I cringe at the thought of Sean Miller EVER becoming associated with an Illini basketball program of which I have been enthralled since the mid 1950s. That Whitman would entertain the thought of bringing a proven cheater into the program is unacceptable and has never been entertained by him to my knowledge and never should be. At my age, BU may be the last Illini coach of my time and I am fine with that....but Miller replacing him could be a death sentence for the program regardless of number of wins. If you need to cheat to win, or condone it, you should not even play the game....am I right Michigan?
1). You’re kidding yourself if you don’t think all big time programs weren’t cheating to a certain extent. You would be surprised how many people would turn their heads the other way if it promoted winning.
2). Do you think Ron Zook got top rated wide receiver Aurelius Benn and other top southern recruits to come to Illinois because they loved winter weather better? Too bad he couldn’t coach, we could have built something.
3). Cheating is legal now, so why not get one of the best?

I see the ethics banner from the Weber days is still hanging in the rafters. What if Brad doesnt want to be here? There was some smoke during the offseason.

On the roster I don't see the TSJ scorer for next year. If one is in teh portal Illinois needs to go all in. Even if CH decides to return for a 5th year he isn't that type of player. Ty needs to develop a shot, so there is a wide opening for that player. I'm sure a Knect type big Wing/SG will become availible we just need to identify and successfully recruit.
I doubt CH gets the same NIL offer he got this year to make him stay...CH is a + glue guy. It's more likely that our top 3 players for next year's team are not on this roster.

If you have ever lived in the Chicago area, you know there are three parts of the state: Chicago, the burbs, and Southern Illinois. If you really must make finer distinctions, there are the southern, western and north lake burbs.

For Chicagoans, "Southern" illinois starts once you get south of I-80. For those of us that actually live downstate, southern Illinois doesn't start until you get south of I-70.

I'd tell you the he's doing things the right way because he's successfully operating in the grey areas. Now, the grey area is status quo and openly accepted.
Exactly, so happy were past the Weber years where we were terrified to compensate athletes for their services and we paid the price for it.

Brought to you by the transfer portal & NIL.

Epps, Miller & Clark would've transferred, regardless of the old ways or new, now we get to use our crazy fandom to reload. We're honestly lucky.
We seem to believe we're better off this year than last because of experience, in part within our system.

Sorry, lucky is having talent on a team with experience in the system and with their teammates.

I don't relish trying to make last year's formula turn into a success.

If all programs can cheat now, why would we ever need Sean Miiler?? Why not have someone who can coach the X's and O's with the changed NIL landscape. Sean Miller had uber talented teams at Arizona and never made it to a final four if I remember correctly? The current 6-5 record at Xavier do it for you?

Relying heavily on the portal can be a quick fix, as it was this year. But the game balance between experience and new recruit development becomes more precarious. How much do you increase the flow into the portal due to expectations for immediate reward of recruits?

I for one think we should cheat way more. National championships come to those who cheat, so let's cheat

I've seen every Duke game the past two years because my wife is a Duke fan. 🫤 Schutt looks overrated, not the shooter they thought he was so far.
