Wouldn’t Jim Leonard make the most sense as the D coordinator next year? This program needs to take one more step and cross the void currently separating us from a status of competency & respect. There is a realm just outside of our present reach where the Illini go and beat Kirk Ferentz and don’t get outpaced by what Luke Fickell is building in Madison.
It means upgrading personnel in the secondary and assembling an offensive line that gets a certified notary stamp from Bret. When it comes to Aaron Henry…the answer on him is not an emphatic “yes”.
many have said that - it may just be that JL is not exactly on board with the duties & time & effort that job entails .Wouldn’t Jim Leonard make the most sense as the D coordinator next year?
It's a good bet that will occur whether they face OSU or Michigan. I won't watch it but will enjoy seeing the box score afterward.Who wants to see Iowa annihilated in the Big Ten championship game?
There is a good chance Iowa does not win another game. Nebraska will put up a very good fight.Who wants to see Iowa annihilated in the Big Ten championship game?
That would be IndianaOr do they suck?
On the replay I saw it appeared he was still in at that pointIt was. I wonder if he stepped out of bounds where they marked it.

The dropped passes, especially Washington's late, were killers. If Casey catches that ball, it's a fresh set of downs at close to midfield. It's never just one play one call that sinks you, but that one hurt badly. We had so many chances. The paddock safety, the dropped passes, the lazy defensive play on the fumble (because he thought it was incomplete initially), paddock not going for the first down and trying to juke..he did make a smart move getting out of the pile, poor special teams, consecutive poor 2nd and 3rd down runs in crunch time. Better bring it next week
Since when have sportscasters or their producers allowed logic to intrude on emotion?I laughed at all the love Brian Ferentz got after game on FS1. Celebrated for complete incompetence.
The final margin was the 2 point safety.........Defense played good enough for the win..........Offense scored a TD and 2 FG's......The defense gave up 13 points. That’s a game that should be won.
I don't know. If they are playing the cheaters from the north I'll hold my nose and pull for Iowa.Who wants to see Iowa annihilated in the Big Ten championship game?
man I would love it if they ended up bringing him back. make him HC after Kirk retires!I laughed at all the love Brian Ferentz got after game on FS1. Celebrated for complete incompetence.
And we need receivers who can make a catch, in a crucial situation, on a well thrown ball that would have resulted in extended drives... especially late in the 4th quarter.....we really really do and we really really did because losing to Iowa really really sucks. The final margin was the 2 point safety.........Defense played good enough for the win..........Offense scored a TD and a FG......
We needed Feagin to win and competent officials to know how to correctly spot the ball also...........We really really did.......
It would make all the sense in the world, but I believe the insiders have hinted this isn’t a realistic scenario, nor part of Leonard’s plans.Wouldn’t Jim Leonard make the most sense as the D coordinator next year?
It was a terrible spot. It was very obvious to everyone on tv. I replayed it on my DVR two times to make sure I wasn't missing something. The referees just plain missed it.As far as the spot of that ball, has anyone except this forum said anything about it? I didn’t see Williams complain, or in the game, Bielema never said anything during or after, announcers didn’t, etc…
Something must’ve looked weird to us on TV that wasn’t what happened in real life.
We did get a couple calls in the middle of the gameWe can complain about the refs, and trust me I am as well, however we did get a couple of generous calls. The roughing the passer call could've gone either way. (Go ahead and roast me for saying that)
I hate loosing more than I love winningI hate losing.
I’m not really sure of the impact Leonard’s involvement made this year. Of the games I would have expected him to be deeply involved in the Illini lost at home to Wisconsin. It would make all the sense in the world, but I believe the insiders have hinted this isn’t a realistic scenario, nor part of Leonard’s plans.
