But Heirman to DePaul was recent and Alstork to CU was recent as well as BU getting some work outs in. Something made him realize that he wasn't going to get the kind of touches he needed.
Sad, but he never was healthy in the offseason to build physically like others had so he played weak. His shot was pretty dang good though.
Strange timing on this one. Staff/Underwood have been here almost 2 months.
Aaron Jordan really needs to step up. Frazier is going to get a lot of minutes as well. Those two could make up for the lost scoring of JCL, but boy all these new faces usually means a year of rebuilding.
"as well as BU getting some work outs in". I brought this up in another thread: Somebody explain to me about "work outs"-----We are in the off-season. The NCAA has strict rules about when teams can practice. What are these work outs? Who is running them (Underwood, perhaps)? are they legal?
There is a part of me who is sad to see JCL leave… However, there is a part of me that was truly wondering what his role would be… If you watch Oklahoma state last year and the video where BU describes the basics of his offense I am not quite certain that JCL fit like some of you believe… This offense requires the four Perimter players not only to be able to shoot but also put the ball on the floor… The defensive scheme is pressure defense and I don't know how many times I saw an opponent Drive around JCL last year...BU wants his type of players and I am having a hard time seeing JCL as a part of next years team… I would imagine this is one reason we got our new transfer… Also opens up a scholarship for next year's class ...losing no sleep over this transfer other than to see a nice kid leave

The message isn't directly at DePaul. And like you, they don't concern me one bit. But if its ok for DePaul to do it, then Notre Dame will do it, and Kansas will do it. It will be anarchy.
What is going on? I am curious why we're losing some of our players already
Smith
JCL (if he had stayed)
Alstork
that perimeter group would've been monster....
Alexander58: What do you mean by "he had a chance to work out with Underwood to see what's expected of him". Is that legal? I think not.
You mean like against the law?
By "legal", I meant NCAA rules of which there are a million.
I don't really care to hear about Heirman being in JCL's ear unless you have proof. Every time something doesn't go our way lately with players this board devolves into whining about tampering with zero evidence to support the allegations. JCL would have fit in this system because elite shooters fit in EVERY system. This loss hurts badly, and there's no way around that. Let's not cut down the character of a kid who up until today was considered a model student athlete. I've never seen comments about him not working hard enough in practice or not buying into coaching until today. We were all thrilled that JCL was both playing for us and representing our university. Let's wish him well wherever he goes and focus on our team because right now it needs a ton of work.
JCL has been flirting with transferring since the end of his Freshman year. Many times at road games he would have 'handlers' in his ear immediately following the game. I witnessed this on several occasions over two seasons. I truly believe this decision had little to do with BU, the system, etc. JCL is a very hard worker at shootarounds, practice, etc especially when he is having trouble with his shot. He works on the three constantly but he is just too one-dimensional and as everyone knows, his handle is very lacking. I was hoping he would stay and have no idea if the incoming competition for minutes was the final straw. I do know this has been coming for a long time before BU got here. It was obvious he was not happy with his limited role under JG but he just never developed the ability to create space for his own shot and only got the minutes he deserved imo. He seems like a nice kid but from my observations he did not appear to be very close with his teammates. Certainly not a head case, but just did not seem to be like Leron, AJ and others that celebrated their teammates' success when they were riding the bench. Next year we may witness a record number of minutes played by our freshmen. I hope so. Future looks very bright. My guess for the Braggin Rights score: 99-97 Illinois.
There is pretty solid proof, it is not whining. But hey, keep judging from a distance without any facts. It's a good look for you
No, I am not putting the proof out there bc it's not mine to share.
