NBA Draft

#101
Deyonta Davis not picked in 1st round, despite invited to green room.

I'm fairly certain I had a Brian Randle sighting during the Dragan Bender highlight reel. Looked like a smooth athletic lefty leading the break and giving it up to the young fella.

Phoenix loves themselves some UK PG's.... Ulis finally off the board.

Yep, that was Brian indeed.

DJax goes #45. This is just a reminder for some of the overrated projections of NBA potential of our own players. As talented as DJax is (and he is very talented), he only ended up middle of 2nd round.

Ben Bentil goes to Boston at #50. Great pick for the Celtics IMO. Bentil is a great kid and will find his way in the NBA. Watched him in HS a few times, absolutely great kid.

A lot of solid guys not picked such as Cat Barber, Gary Payton, Robert Carter, Fred VanFleet, Wayne Selden, Yogi Ferrel, and Zach Auguste among others.

Definitely a true sentiment overall. However, this is also a symptom of NBA teams using the draft and stash more and more to save $$ in the immediate future. NBA teams are gearing up for the wild wild west salary cap situation coming in the next couple years.

By most accounts DJax was a player slated to go in the 20-25 range. NBA teams are valuing the draft and stash much higher and then going after immediate contributors (like DJax) on non-guaranteed, bargain contracts. Don't have to pay the first round $ out to the Euros now and if DJax (or guys like him) doesn't pan out they can move on quickly and painlessly. So while DJax is likely a top 20-25 player in this draft class, NBA teams are finally getting smart and figuring out they can all get guys with his value on bargain deals.

Six B1G players went in the draft. How does this stack up to the other "power" conferences?

Anyone else see Nader got drafted? Good for him.

With Nader, Moore (at SMU), and now Watson and Morrow, we need to take a George Costanza approach to recruiting. If our instincts are wrong, then the opposite would have to be right!

Does UofI have a marine Biology Program? Is that in ACES?

We can't just have anybody recruiting with this new strategy. We need someone like Art Vandelay of Vandelay Industries to make pitches to recruits.

The sad part about this year's draft is I didn't recognize the majority of the European players.

NBA Draft? More like the IPD (International Player Draft).

Couldn't help but giggle when Troy Williams didn't get picked up. From what I heard he actually shot well in the shooting drills. He must have been exceptionally out of control in the 5v5 or something. Still can't wrap my head around not staying another year.
