It is good to see the Bulls playing much better though! Weird game for Ayo. He got the start and played 26 minutes with 0 points, 0 assists, 0 rebounds, and 0 steals.
As much as many Illini fans on here may not want to hear this, Coby White has been an absolute revelation since LaVine went out. He was already getting playing time over Ayo and with his performance recently that's not likely to change anytime soon.
If someone were to tell us a year ago Podz would be starting in a Golden State Warriors LA Clippers game. My goodness.

I thought Nunn would stick more in the league. Had some real nice games last year. I'm not sure if he got more overseas or if guys like him get cut and replaced by a cheaper rookie salary.

We love Ayo don’t we
We choose our heroes in sports to cheer for and identify with. And we do this on a whole other level when he is one of Our Own and comes from Our Neighborhood. (And when he also happens to be a 'nice guy').
Ayo has 'game' yet un-tapped. He has not reached his potential. And as (when) he gets his opportunities... he gets to tap deeper into those.
With the Bulls needing a rebuild... I hope they hold on to Ayo in times ahead and make him a building block for their resurrection. It's character guys like Ayo you want to build around.

The list is pretty short, so not crazy at all. As of now it's probably been Ayo or possibly Meyers Leonard. Podz could get there, though.

The Bulls didn't miss on him. Jim Boylen (who is still fired) was a horrible coach and didn't know how to play him.
I can't believe that in all likelihood the best player to pass through the program in a decade is going to end up being a guy that the Coach drove away because he wouldn't play him. Good grief.
Perhaps this is the wrong place for this , but watching Podz play NBA on TNT is PAINFUL.
We are going to need the tapes released of practice that said Podz couldn't keep up on an Illinois team that couldn't advance in the tourny.
