Next Gen Video Gaming - PS4 / Xbox One

#51
Rather than start a new thread I thought I'd just revive this one. I still haven't moved up to the XBOne or PS4, plugging along on my PS3 still. I've had some back issues going on and have been spending quite a bit of time laying around playing CODMW3 in the online 2 player Survival mode. Having some fun but was wondering if any of you still play? I don't currently play online outside of that but am open to suggestions. I'll PM my PS3 handle if anyone is interested in a game or ten. ;)

For those of you who have it how is Titanfall holding up? I've not heard much about it since the release. Do they ever release backwards compatible versions of games on PS3? I just don't see the need to shell out the dough to upgrade when my console is working fine and I've plenty of titles to play.

Titanfall is all kinds of awesome. I play it on the Xbox One. Full on action. If you like the CoD games, it definitely has the same feel to it. I like it better because there is less customization based on leveling up in Titanfall as compared to CoD. To compensate for it, you get cards that you can use during gameplay and they expire when you die once you activate them. Not to say that there isn't customization in Titalfall; there is but it's to a lesser degree than CoD.

I heard that one developer is going to stop making games for PS3/Xbox 360 after net year and I think you'll see a lot of developers following suit. Unless either system has backwards compatibility. I know there has been talk of an emulator for Xbox One but haven't seen anything concrete yet.

I am looking forward to Destiny. Three weeks for that release.

Edit: I also signed up for the EA access and have been playing FIFA 14. pretty fun. I generally don't like sports games as the learning curve is usually pretty steep and I don't play near often enough to get the hang of them. But so far, I do like EA Access. Not a bad deal for 2.50 per month (if you pay for the year).

I played the Alpha and Beta releases of Destiny on the PS4, and was very impressed. I can't wait until 9/9. I'm probably gonna take the day off work just to get as many hours as possible in right away.

Played the beta as well. Loved every minute of it. Unfortunately, when it's released, I'll be in the US for meetings. won't be able to play until the end of September.

Titanfall I thought was a dud. It was visually spectacular but got repetitive quickly.

FIFA 15 is coming soon... And it looks sick!

Destiny is preordered. But I'm not getting my hopes up.

I'm waiting until COD gets released before I decide. The new developer has me intrigued but I feel it will be the same BS. So we will see.

I'm kind of glad you said that. I was debating between a PS4 and a ONE for awhile, and part of the reason I wanted a ONE was for Titanfall, mainly due to the hype it has been getting. I've watched gameplay vids on youtube, and it does look fun.

I just bought a PS4 this past Monday. I haven't stopped playing Madden '15 and The Last of Us. So far I enjoy it. I'm waiting on a few games though: Destiny, Assassin's Creed, Uncharted 4 (whenever that is), and I'm sure there are plenty others. If anyone has any game recommendations, I'm always glad to hear them!

How much did you play it? did you regenerate? all I play is Attrition and with the regeneration requirements, it's plenty to make it interesting and fun.

Did you play the Destiny beta?

Based on your overall comments (should have kept them all), it sounds like you prefer the run and gun style of CoD. Titanfall is definitely a run and gun game but different than CoD.

In case it really makes a difference on which system you choose, Titanfall 2 is rumored to be on all systems (not exclusive to X1).

If anyone is a golf fan, The Golf Club is a great sim recently added to both systems. Unlike the Tiger Woods series, it is much less "arcade-like" and more realistic. There is a Greg Norman endorsed course designer that allows you to create courses either from scratch, or randomly generated. Then you have the ability to edit anything / everything on the course from bunkers / trees to wildlife / buildings. You can even raise / lower the terrain to fully customize your course / holes. Once a course it to your liking you can "publish" it and anyone else can play it (even those on other systems).

I've wasted many hours in the last couple weeks with this and it's definitely keeping my attention until Destiny drops.

I won't be able to check out Destiny until Sept 20th. Traveling to the US for work for two weeks. Oh well......

What are those going for? And is it true you cannot play xbox online for free like I can with my ps3?

Xbox Live is something like 4 bucks a month or 50 per year. So yes, you have to pay.

I played it for a few months. Just could never get into it. I'm not a huge fan of COD anymore, but the new one looks promising. Battlefield 4 is the best multiplayer game out right now.

I did okay destiny and enjoyed the open world. I'm picking it up Tuesday.

I'm also looking forward to assassins. I think it will be sick.

FIFA 15, Destiny, Assasins are the 3 I'm definitely picking up. I have Shadows of Mordor on preorder but haven't decided on that one.

$60 a year for most Gold, however a lot of times you can buy a game and get it for $40. Amazon always has it for $50. The online experience is 100 times better on Xbox than PS3/PS4

This was true several years ago, but is not now. I was always an Xbox guy prior to this generation, but had to go PS4 because of the specs that blow the X1 out of the water. I've had the PS4 since launch day and have seen zero difference vs Live.

What makes it so in your opinion? I've had my PS3 for 3 years now with no issues playing online. There really aren't any Xbox only games that I absolutely must have and with the initial purchase cost being less, coupled with the zero cost to play online I've always wondered what the draw was.

I do like the Battlefield games more then the CoD games. To me, the flow is better.

Did you pick up Destiny? If so, thoughts? I have it at home but won't be able to play it until the 21st.

I did, but haven't played it yet. It's been a long week. I'll give my input when I get about 10-12 hours played on it.

The FIFA 15 Demo is sick. Best improvement on a video game series I've seen i in a while.

I just got a job and I'm excited because once I get my paycheck, I'm buying a PS4. I want Watchdogs, Assassin's Creed, Fifa, and Destiny to start off. Eventually 2k15.
