Yeah, he finds any reason to come after the Illini and it is so predictable. He said Bielema was going to lose the team after he said we had no depth. The following week, we upset Penn State. He said Curbelo should not have been benched in the second half of the tournament game having no clue what had gone on in the locker room. I hadn’t heard his take on Orange Krush because I removed 670 from my dial because of him.

Even though I strongly disagree with his take on this situation, Bernstein is one of the main reasons I listen to the Score, all the way back to the B&B days. His show right now with him and Laurence Holmes is really good.

Just listened to the recorded podcast to see what was said and now my ears are bleeding. It was indeed Bernstein. After calling the fans "downstate goobers" multiple times, he said the Krush should be dissolved for doing this. Apparently stereotyping is bad unless he is doing it then it's OK

To be fair, downstaters do A LOT of stereotyping about people in Chicago too.

Actually Bernstein is the reason I don't really listen to the Score anymore. I find him to be a self important, grade A jerk. Never really cared much for Holmes, either.

I didn't listen to the segment, but this type of (non)story is definitely in Bernstein's wheelhouse for him to take the perceived moral high ground.

The whole thing is just stupid. Orange Krush misled Iowa in order to buy tickets that they otherwise wouldn't have been allowed to purchase. They got busted and lost the tickets. That should be the end of the story. There is nothing else nefarious occuring on either side. Nobody is or was being harmed here.

I spent an entire summer listening to B&B while working for College Pro Painters in Champaign. Those were the days! I do still enjoy his show for the most part, but in much smaller doses.

When I was young, as a downstater, I was always proud to be from Illinois with the big city Chicago in it. Then I went to college. Holy crap. I had no idea Chicago had such a low opinion of downstate. That was a shock. So you might be right, but at least in my case, it was certainly a learned behavior.

There was a local car dealership that part of their whole sales pitch in their commercials at the end of the year were to help the little old car dealer help beat the "big bad Chicago dealer" (and yes the bad guy looks what you'd think a stereotyped Chicago person looks like) for the top Hyundai dealer in the Midwest. It wasn't til later I realized that ad does two things: 1. It builds into the complex downstate has towards Chicago and 2. it's actually not as impressive for the downstate dealership when you realize that the Chicago car dealer actually has a lot more competition than the downstate car dealer would have.

Man, oh man…

Have been busy with work the past few days and haven’t checked the site much since Nebraska game.

Why aren’t people thinking we win in Iowa City?? I expect a win. We have a top 15 defense and a ~top 50 offense (and that’s including half of our season where we ran a “chaotic with purpose game plan and with Skyy).

We run offense, we swing the ball, we turn defense into offense, we have guys who get into the lane, we have 4-5 guys who can just take over a game on either end of the court…it literally just comes down to putting the ball in the hoop. With the way some of you complain and talk about the team you’d think we were 2-9 in conference play…we’re in 2nd place… 🙄

Anyone that really knows ball knows this team is talented, plays hard, and plays for eachother. The Skyy truly is the limit.

I expect nothing short of 13-15 big ten wins. I’ll catch you all in mid-March.

And for Saturday? We will win by double digits.
