Think their D is gonna have difficulty stopping us. I we have ball security, we'll win. Kansas will move the ball, but am assuming our D is gonna impede them more than their D impeding us.
In positive news, if we went with the all white approach vs. Kansas' all-black, there are statistical studies out there that suggest a natural tendency by refs to bias penalties against the team wearing the all-black jerseys in a black vs white jersey matchup. I'd take all the help we can get in this one.Do we even have white helmets with this new design, though? They certainly weren't in any photos. As I said, I would GENERALLY prefer to stick to a "tight" set of uniforms and have a consistent look, but I will admit that a white helmet with an orange Block I (and navy outline) and a B/O/B stripe could look mighty fine...

Key will be using misdirection early to spread them out, open up the running lanes to gash them, and using playaction and slants to light them up. Methodical drives down the field ending in touchdowns. If we can do that, eventually our defense will get some stops. We need to do our part though on defense to stop the run and get some pressure on an ailing qb. Hard to throw accurate passes when you're under pressure and have a tight back. Just find a way to get it done.Think their D is gonna have difficulty stopping us. I we have ball security, we'll win. Maybe we have super double secret white helmets?
Even if we go O/W/W, I’ll be pleased.
Something like thatKnee meets groin conversation?![]()
Finn was a really poor passer. Maybe it was my imagination, but he seemed to only throw with his arm and his weight on his back foot even we he didn't have to.Is that because Jalon can actually throw the ball with some success? If Finn had been a better passer, that Toledo game could have been really ugly for the Illini.
Reread itHow bad is their kicker that he misses two XP’s?
Both statements can be true. Opposing OCs had a lot more players to plan & scheme against last year, now more of their attention may be on our DL. And if so, this may free up the new DBs to make plays.Good article, except the “defense looks to have taken a step back without quan, spoon, syd and co.”
Very clearly the backfield wasn’t the problem.
Just add it to the list of things I didn’t read very close.Reread it
i see what you did there, illini will prove you wrong and 'chalk' up the WTo be candid, I have rock bottom expectations for this game. I was shook by what I saw on Saturday. Prove me wrong fellas.
Conversely this is the same reason Bret and Henry enjoy themPersonally, these night games are a pain because they are squarely happening when I am trying to get my toddlers to bed (usually an hour + endeavor)....
Reiman is good and I agree we don't use him enough. This has been true of many Illini teams, though.Have to utilize the tight end more this game. 2 for 2 on the first drive last week and never threw to the tight end the rest of the game.
We threw to him again. Lukes INT was to the TEHave to utilize the tight end more this game. 2 for 2 on the first drive last week and never threw to the tight end the rest of the game.
good catch.. no pun intendedWe threw to him again. Lukes INT was to the TE
You should see more TE involvement tonight though. At least more of the TE being the primary read for Luke. They play a lot of zone coverage, look for Tip to sit in the holes of their quarters coverage as well as some play action looks to suck the LBs up and dump it over them to the TEs/Slot guys.We threw to him again.
