Northwestern's defense revolves around being aggressive in pick n rolls and doubling in the post. Basically trying to disrupt any offensive flow. Luckily we are very good at handling both of those things, moving the ball, and finding the open man. Our offensive flow is almost impossible to stop. Collins is going to have to make some adjustments.

OTOH, they scored 92 against PU and 88 against MSU. Both those teams are statistically better than us defensively. I didn't watch the MSU game, but Boo tore Edey apart in PnR's. I don't think they will have as much success against our switching defense. Force their centers to beat us (they can't).

Now that TSJ is back, we need to start seeing some of that championship caliber defense we saw early in the year. Like BU said....offense wins games, defense wins championships. In a 6 game tournament you are bound to have a game where shots aren't falling and need the defense to pull one out.

For your second paragraph I present you:

Interesting that the social media team has yet to highlight Terrence. His breakaway dunk can’t be found anywhere on the Instagram or twitter feed. It is part of the YouTube highlights from the game, however. Will this continue? Was he in the pregame video? Just curious.
I've noticed they focus on guys like Dainja and DGL disproportionately. Wonder if it's to keep them happy. I don't think TSJ needs the hype.

Yeh I guess SCUM did go through that.
This will be different as it will be targeted singularly at a player instead of the coach or team. And while as a player, you can revel in the booing by opposing fanbases, that's typically because you know you're getting the treatment because you're a great player. It tends to be a lot different when you're being constantly jeered by people who think you're a disgusting human being who belongs in jail and you see the hate in their eyes. Most people also want to be liked and thought of as a good person and this will be TSJ's first experience, completely unsheltered, with a large group of people who won't think that. It's not going to be easy.

I know I've brought up the Patrick Kane case before, but after his first road game returning from his suspension he looked gaunt and pale, and had the look of an absolutely frightened young child. And while I'm not saying this will go the same way, TSJ is going to need the team to rally around and support him if he starts to similarly struggle. This will be a tough first test for him, but hopefully it'll help him and the team prepare for the far more hostile environments at MSU and Maryland in a couple weeks. That said, I don't know if there's a place more hostile in the nation than Maryland for someone accused of what TSJ has been accused of. They're one of the worst on a normal day- they'll be absolutely ruthless

He doesn’t “need it”, per se, but there is definitely a reason why Illini SM isn’t highlighting him. Makes sense..even if we don't agree with it.
yea , sadly , his unofficial role as “face of the program” is a casualty of this

he will be a lot less “noticeable “ than before on Illini marketing / media stuff

He was not in the pre-game video Sunday, which seemed odd. They could easily have switched back to the version used at games earlier in the season. I wondered how he felt seeing that no-TJ version.

And as others have posted, I get that the media dept is in a delicate position here - but we're allowing him to play and reaping the benefit of that. Seems like there could be a reasonable medium between no coverage and the primary coverage he received prior to December.

Maybe they are awaiting to see what happens at the preliminary hearing? Just a thought. Who knows?

Honestly, him being able to pull 2min from Coleman and 2 from Guerrier would probably be very beneficial. Getting both of them down a little to 32min a night instead of the 34-35 they've been averaging the past few weeks would be helpful in my opinion so long as Amani can hold the score when he's out there.
Yeah I was being a little sarcastic and serious at the same time.

Just cuz he's back doesn't mean it's business as usual. I imagine they're walking a tightrope
