Unfortunately, they will make a high percentage from behind the arc and seemingly get every long rebound, leading to some more points. Were a better team than we were when we played them earlier this season and we will cover!!! I think Epps has a big night.

Good offense, bad defense teams have been our kryptonite. Makes me think our own offense just gets in the way too much by not knowing how to play to its strengths, shooting too many ill-advised threes and turning it over way too much in ways that are unforced as opposed to created by good defenses. This is a big opportunity for the offense given that even in a road setting, our offense on paper beats their defense

With Penn State having lost four straight, it would be nice to get off to a fast start to break their spirit as their tourney hopes are just about out the window. I can't imagine it will be a rabid crowd either. Have to hope that our change in play style prevents the easy looks on offense they enjoyed all game back in December.

What makes that December game even more frustrating is that it remains their one road win in the Big Ten and four of their six conference road losses were by 9 points or more.

I would love to see RJ to hit a few 3’s tomorrow. His driving game was not shabby either. Do you pound it in to Dain tomorrow early. They don’t have a big 5 man that can cover Dain so I assume they will collapse on him is when he kicks it out. Go Illini!!!

I am confident that we will look a LOT better than in our first meeting and that they won't look quite like the all stars they did in our first meeting ... beyond that, I'm nervous as hell and can't make a prediction! If we play like we did at Iowa, I think we win by 7 or so (up 10 after FTs but PSU hits a three at the buzzer, obviously). If we play like we did vs. Rutgers over the course of the game, I think it will be a nail biter, as I don't think we can count on a PSU scoring drought. I think it's imperative to avoid a slow start. Win this one, and we will have won 12 of 14 Big Ten games heading into a massive clash in Bloomington. JUST WIN, BABY!

I'd pound it into Dain early every game.
Agreed. I said this in the Rutgers game thread, but it's so frustrating when we are ice cold from three and are not passing it into Dain because he's actually a great passer! It's not like with Kofi where once you passed him the ball he was probably taking it to the hoop or turning it over. There is zero excuse for this team to take a contested three pointer (even if we WERE good at shooting!) before passing it to Dain.

for what it's worth, I tried to focus on R.J. whenever they showed a shot of the bench. He didn't appear to just be sitting there pouting but instead cheering and engaged with the other guys on the bench. I still believe in the kid but at the end of the season it might not come down to playing time in the future but just a different setting (see Podz).

What am I missing here? We only have 8 BIG wins?

I'd love for him to play meaningful minutes and not take any 3's.

Love this team. We have superstars in Mayer, TJS, Epps, Dain, Goode, Melendez, Ty, Harris. They play so well with each other. I expect a great game out of those guys!
This team is great I expect them to make it to elite 8!
