Angst began to set in yesterday afternoon. Should be close to a double digit game for us but we need to continue our strong starts (remember those over the last couple years? No.) Any confidence early for them will make this game a close one.

I had a good friend who moved to Lubbock from Alaska. Apparently there's a pretty good cardiology program in Lubbock, at which he worked. Said it was the only thing that kept him there.

EDIT to add: a few years later he moved to Fayetteville, AR which has a pretty nice campus. I lived in the area for a number of years.

I was in Fayetteville once, 20 yrs ago. Halloween weekend, Saturday night. Stayed in an on-campus inn that the university's hospitality program students managed. Spent the evening into the wee hours in the bar watching the Arkansas-Kentucky football game, drinking with a bunch of middle-aged alumni couples visiting campus. Before the Illini beat PSU in 8 OTS that '03 Hogs-Cats game had the record for OTs in a D-1 game: seven. Hogs won 71-63. KO was around 7 p.m. and game ended well after midnight. One of the most fun evenings I've had in the past 25 years... getting lickered up in a high-end inn with well-heeled Arkansas alumni watching their team win an epic CFB game.

BTW... the name of that inn (housed in one of the restored classic old buildings on the UA campus): Carnall Hall.

No more fitting name for an on-campus inn has ever existed! Sadly, I didn't experience the full range of Carnall delights.
