Re: UCLA and Texas...an educated guess: UCLA plays a different style than we see in the Big10...without knowing what I'm talking about exactly, I'm going to dub it a "West Coast" style (something that *doesn't* resemble football without the pads). Meyer shined in both those games, right?

And Shannon used to play for Texas Tech...Texas' natural rival. He was likely super-motivated to put that team away.
Hey, maybe this finally bodes well for us in March. While we could bully other Big Ten teams with Kofi, a long/athletic team like Houston gave us fits and took us COMPLETELY out of our usual game. Let's all keep our fingers crossed that maybe this year, we experience the opposite "problem" and thrive in the Big Dance vs. non-Big Ten teams.

As bad as that last loss was, this team still has a chance to bolster their NCAA seeding with a win against Michigan and Purdue and a deep BTT run, they have the talent to do so, unfortunately that talent at times has been wasted on poor effort and execution.

I don’t think this statement speaks to my own personal frustrations and I’m guessing other fans here as well; we’re not expecting a perfect season.

The last two years’ teams were out-coached and out-played in the tourney. Then this year the team peaked December 6th with the win vs Texas, and it’s been downhill since then. We are 1-8 vs Q1 since that Texas win. We struggled to stomp out bottom dweller Minnesota, and lost to the 2nd worst team. Not sure where your optimism comes from.
Take your frustrations out on your dog or your wife. I don't want to share in them.
You have to resort to the "last two years in the tourney argument"? Yeah Houston wasn't any good, Trent and Grandison weren't hurt - BU was just completely outcoached.
I am optimistic because we have played as well or better than most other B1G teams since the first of the year. Who is your model team of great consistency? Purdue - they have lost 4 of last 6. Maryland - they can't win on the road, and Michigan took them to the woodshed this year 81-46. Northwestern? Maryland just torched them by 16. Indiana - yeah, they just beat Purdue, but the game before MSU beat them by 15. The B1G is just full of crappy inconsistent teams. Maybe you should try a blueblood like NCar or Duke or Kentucky - oh wait, they such too. Better yet just root for whomever is number 1 in the poll this week, you will feel better.

Full disclosure, I didn't watch Sundays game...but the result honestly really makes me appreciate what Brad has done with this program over the last three years.
It's hard to be the hunted on the road in the B1G.
Yet you look at our record for the last three years...and we have a considerable body of work in this league. And it hasn't been a sh#t league at all.
Hopefully we can have a March to remember now.

Actually, you can look at the last four years.

This is exactly right. The offense looks like a bad YMCA game. It is each person taking their turn rather than trying to play as a team. The three guys literally standing in one spot on the weak side drives me up the wall. It is way easier to double when you can turn your back on the guy and know that when the pass goes that way he'll be in almost exactly the same spot as he was when yous stopped looking.

Mayer is a big part of the problem the way he dribbles around, then gets trapped, passes it to someone to bail him out, then immediately asks for the ball back.

It is also in the coaching though as the offense has looked like this for years. I like the bball iq of the three freshman, but i'm afraid underwood is going to ruin them.
Tell me you haven’t watched the last few years and or you don’t know anything about basketball without telling me….

I’m optimistic because I’m certain this team has a gear in there we have yet to see. Maybe we never will, but it wouldn’t take a miracle for this team to make a run. The ingredients are there. They’ve just got to value the basketball and have quality possessions.

Izzo must be a bad coach because msu is 14 down to Nebraska. There are 12 teams in the big ten who can win on any night if the other team plays well. Illinois has a good team and coach but they can be beat if they don't play well every night. I wish some of the negative posters on this site would just enjoy this team for what they are.

If we can keep our core, we should be really really good next year. A positive.
To really really good we need to add additional shooters and improve in that area with this we have. Plus we must add additional size strength and experience for more depth at the PG position. Stronger bigger guards killed us this season. Epps can get stronger and we need another PG. That’s not Harris true position if we are going to be really really good
I really hope Epps plays well and want us to shoot it well and beat Scum. Since Howard took over and Hunter arrived there may not be any team I’d rather beat. It’s either Iowa or Scum. But I do love the fact that I don’t think Howard and Dickinson have won vs BU do I really hope it stays that way!
