I don’t think Purdue makes the Sweet 16.I don't think PU gets to the Final Four.
I figured Ty was going to set the pick on Coleman’s man but Mayer I think went to get the ball rather than waiting for Ty to set the screen. That’s what we had been doing to great effectiveness. Just guessing here. But if Ty isn’t screening then there’s no reason to have him out there.Without knowing the play, it’s difficult to call out Hawkins. It looked like others weren’t in the right position.
If roles were reversed, there would be such gnashing of teeth on this board. We’d feel really nervous heading into tourney.Eh, a win is a win. I would be thrilled about escaping with the W.
Haven't the NBA refs been national news all year for their poor performance? Nobody has confidence in them either. Bottom line is you can't expect refs to be perfect for you to win. They could've easily called a flagrant on us at the end when we swiped at the ball and hit that dude's face, but they didn't. Only difference is Purdue wasn't begging for it because they put themselves in a position to win.Or maybe hire better refs and have oversight like in the NBA. Seems like an easy fix.
The best victories.Since no one has said it yet, I greatly appreciated that our effort ended the game with us down by less than 7.5 points. Not just a moral victory, also a Vegas victory.
It seems the betting play with this team is to wait until halftime, then take the points. It can't lose!Since no one has said it yet, I greatly appreciated that our effort ended the game with us down by less than 7.5 points. Not just a moral victory, also a Vegas victory.
That definitely sounds like the correct gameplan in that situation. Fairly certain most of us in the game thread had that type of play drawn up as well- either him or TSJ. Aggravating stuff. I'll say again, just because you can make a stepback three, doesn't mean you should be taking it, especially when you've gotten very high percentage looks going to the basket. Not sure what you can do if you're Brad other than putting him on the bench, but that's shooting yourself in the foot more than a bit as well.If you're talking about the rushed three... On postgame radio, BU said he wanted MM to drive the ball on that play...
2 hand push to tye chest is flagrant. No basketball play involvedHe was faked out and couldn't really do anything on the way down aslt that point. It started with him making a basketball play. It was a hard foul. It didn't need to be flagrant.
Per BU in the presser it was supposed to be an action to get mayer a post up......seems to me mayer was the one going rogueMe too. Not ripping on Cohawk, he plays his butt off, but I think at times he freelances and goes rouge because he thinks he something. It all fell apart on that play with him dribbling way too much once again.

Interestingly, the refs for the women's BTT games have looked quite competent by comparison. I might hire some of those.Haven't the NBA refs been national news all year for their poor performance? I made a post in the game thread saying just that. Some times you have to risk the player fouling out than giving the game away in the first, half.
Saw the same thing, was waiting for a replay. To paraphrase Crash Davis, anything that far up in the air should have a flight attendant (he said stewardess, but you know …..)I saw that too! Dude! He had to have been SO HIGH in the air! He was at least 3 feet above the rim it appeared to me! My goodness!
He specifically said Coleman went the wrong way to TSJ side. Also mentioned Ty supposed to be executing a pin down to help get edey switched onto Mayer. The whole thing was a mess. But wasn’t because Mayer went rogue.Per BU in the presser it was supposed to be an action to get mayer a post up......seems to me mayer was the one going rogue
missed that, thats my badHe specifically said Coleman went the wrong way to TSJ side. Also mentioned Ty supposed to be executing a pin down to help get edey switched onto Mayer. The whole thing was a mess. But wasn’t because Mayer went rogue.
My gut feeling is that if he doesn't go off in the BTT and the Dance, he'll come back next year for his final season. I don't think he improved his draft stock to the point he wanted this year.Is there ANY way Hawkins comes back next year. He'd be the biggest loss of any. He the only irreplaceable part on this roster. You can find shooters/scorers. Finding 6'10", a guy who can handle the ball, shoot the ball, distribute it, block shots, guard multiple positions......
