The Blues won their fourth in a row and extended their point streak to five games with a 5-1 victory over the Vancouver Canucks on Monday at Rogers Arena. The win got them back above .500 at 16-15-1, largely a result of feasting on Pacific Division foes. They have won seven straight against Pacific squads and are 9-2-0 against that division this season.

Tarasenko and ROR both placed on IR. Vlady is out 4 weeks with an injured hand. ROR is out 6 weeks with a broken foot.

Time to let the smoke clear and see what happens in the next month or more while they are out. Blues have let players walk after the season before and they have been fine. I don't see it being the same scenario this time. There is trade value in Tarasenko and O'Reilly even with expiring contracts. Tarasenko is not coming back after this season. I would love for the Blues to keep O'Reilly but if that is not in the cards financially I hope they can get something before he walks. I don't like the injuries but will be interesting to see what guys step in in the next month. I would be surprised if the current roster looks the same before the trade deadline.

TORONTO — Ryan O’Reilly and Vladimir Tarasenko have combined for more than 500 goals and more than 1,200 points over their distinguished NHL careers. This season, they represent two of the four Blues’ players who have scored at least 10 goals this season.

That’s a significant chunk of firepower to be missing for a team struggling just to tread water. But it didn’t matter Tuesday at Scotiabank Arena.

Entertaining game considering the Blues were missing ROR , Tarasenko and Krug................Winning 6-5 on a shootout shows to me the Blues will compete as the 3 above players will be out around another month with their injuries.....Schenn was a warrior last night....

NEWARK, N.J. — The New Jersey Devils’ stars came to play Thursday at the Prudential Center. But the Blues had more than enough from their depleted lineup to post a 5-3 victory against one of the league’s most improved teams.
The Blues improved to 19-17-3; New Jersey fell to 24-12-3.

The Blues have scored 6 & 5 goals in the first two games of the current road trip and won both games......Pretty impressive considering they are without ROR , Tarasenko and Krug for at least 3-4 weeks.........Puck control has been great and the play of Jordan Kyrou and Robert Thomas shows that the future is bright for the Blues..........Saad and Schenn have also been playing at an increased level......If the Blues can sustain this level of play then the playoffs still might be achievable................................Binner has been playing great in the net...........................

But they found some defense, found some stellar goaltending and found a way, defeating the Wild 3-0 Sunday at Xcel Energy Center, thus completing a treacherous trip with a 3-1-0 record.

Blues coach Craig Berube made Josh Levio a healthy scratch Sunday in Minnesota, the first time that’s happened to Leivo since Thanksgiving weekend.

“Wanted to get (Nathan) Walker in there,” Berube said. “He’s energy guy, does little things right. Made some great blocks (Sunday). Just simple things that maybe you guys don’t notice. But he does what he does.”

Entering tonight Blues had played 2nd fewest home games in the NHL to this point (though that was effectively the fewest considering the fewest was Arizona).

Good to get the two points tonight and it's gonna be a key stretch to start stacking up points in games. Depending on what happens between now and the end of this homestand, they could end up in the top 3 in the division.

From what I have read , the only way to resign ROR is to move Tarasenko......salary cap didn't move much during covid year has hampered many teams in the NHL.........

Yeah Tarasenko isn't coming back and not sure if we can afford O'Reilly unless he takes a pay cut. I loveeee O'Reilly but this is one of the few times I would rather get something for these guys than let them walk.

Not sure if anything happens but didn't think the day would come when Tarasenko/O'Reilly for the Blues and Kane/Toews for the Blackhawks might all be available the same season. Toews and O'Reilly both have won the Smythe and Selke awards. A team needing an upgrade or depth at C would be crazy not to inquire.

The Blues keep finding shovels.
They found them three months ago, when an eight-game losing streak left them — and still has them — chasing the rest of the Western Conference. They found them Saturday against Chicago, as the lowly Blackhawks built a three-goal lead and held on to beat the Blues. They once again found them on Tuesday night, digging themselves a four-goal deficit in a 5-3 loss to the Sabres.

The Blues pulled within 4-3 early in the third period but could not tie the game despite a six-on-four power play in the final two minutes. Sabres forward Dylan Cozens sealed the Buffalo victory with an empty-netter with one minute left.

Have thought this for years but Tarasenko would score 15-25 more goals a season if he exploited the one-timer shot

He has a wicked shot even if the goalie is positioned well. Vladimir gets so many scoring opportunties with a one-timer when the goalie is not ready and readjusting but he doesn't take them.

Not resigning perron has hurt the Blues worse than Armstrong even thought it would be.........Leddy is ok on D and skates so smoothly but the Blues lack that down low corners and board work that Perron did so well.....

I can't remember a Blues team in all my years being a fan (since 1967, their first year ) giving up so many back door goals.....
Thomas was late defending his man and it ended up in the net........Binner is not having a great season , but a lot of the goals are not his fault........The Blues have given up on being that physical team and are backpedaling too much at our blue line resulting in more puck control by the opponents resulting oin more goals against us......

it might be getting close to a readjustment of the roster with ROR and Tarasenko moving on......But . the salary cap issues means we have to take back similar contracts instead of going all in on draft pick accumulation..........

I think the Blues sneak into the playoffs but get bounced in the first round...........
