As a sports journalist, I’ve seen some seasons. Twenty professional years so far, starting with the 2002 Tulane football team — and its spunky linebacker Blake Baker — to the 2022 Mizzou football team — and its savvy defensive coordinator Blake Baker. I’ve been around college and pro teams that have been spectacular, others spectacularly bad, be it in MLB, the NFL, the NBA or the NHL.
But I’ve never seen anything like this Blues season. It’s been beyond comprehension or explanation. Beyond bonkers.
The Blues won their first three games.
They lost their next eight games.
They won their next seven games.

They next went on the road and were blown out, 6-2 and 5-2.
And in the third and final game of the trip, they trailed 3-0 and by the end of the second period it was 4-1. It was the second game of a road back-to-back situation. They were down two forwards. And sure enough, the Blues scored three goals in the third to tie Florida — and scored in overtime to beat Florida.
Unfathomable.

This year, they have been so good and so bad that they don’t even know who they are.
Sure, one could argue that at 11-10-0, the Blues, despite the streaks, are just an average team.
Still, their ceiling is so high!

But their floor is so low!
Look, they still have the potential to be a playoff team and a tough playoff team, at that. But it sure seems a lot of the Blues’ problems lie squarely between their helmet flaps.

Frustrated with his play this season, Blues defenseman Torey Krug came to the realization Saturday night in Florida that he had to fight his way out of it. Literally.
So with the Blues trailing the Florida Panthers 3-1 early in the second period, he dropped his gloves and fought Patric Hornqvist. They have a bit of history from the days when they were Eastern-Conference rivals — Hornqvist with Pittsburgh, Krug with Boston. And they fought on Jan. 16, 2020, while with those clubs.
This time, the fight didn’t last long. Not many punches were thrown, in part because Krug got Hornqvist to the ice quickly.
“Things haven’t been going well for me personally,” Krug said. “Sometimes you just have to drag yourself into the battle and you get rewarded for it. He’s a guy that I’ve lined up with a few times now. It’s just something to get yourself going. So that’s all that was.”

Blues PK is awful, currently ranked 31st in NHL (only Anaheim is worse), and they're on pace to be the worst in team history since the NHL started keeping the stat in the 1977-78 season.

As much as I love Berube and what he's done for the team, I'm starting to wonder how much longer it's going to be before a change is made.

Another game , another lackluster loss for the Blues ..............losing at home 5-2 to the Winnipeg Jets.......next game is against the Avalanche.....ugh....

I really thought it was a bad decision to choose to resign Leddy over David Perron when it happened and it looks even worse as the season progresses....

Perron was the heart and soul of the Blues last year ............Being a pest on the forecheck and such a weapon on the power play........Leddy plays steady D for sure , but the Blues D has been abysmal this year with so many 3 goal period given up and with the lack of scoring threat that Perron posed it looks like the Blues will miss the playoffs this year.......

Yeah , you can look back to 2019 when the Blues won the Stanley Cup an were in last place in the NHL in the middle of January , but that roster had a lot more talent than this years Blues......I would bet that GM Armstrong wishes he had made a different decision on Perron based on where the Blues are right now.......

Scoring is down .......Goals against is way up.......The PK is terrible ......The power play is mediocre.........Goaltending is hot and cold.......

I hope Chief doesn't lose his job over this years Blues play and he probably won't as to what the GM has said earlier this season , but this team is getting hard to watch with all the poor play ......................

JMHO...................

Monday’s tussle between Nashville and St. Louis was about as close to playoff hockey as you’re going to get. Tight defense. Intense checks. Hard hits. And two teams that really don’t like each other.

Fittingly then, it went into overtime before the 13th sellout crowd of the season at Enterprise Center.

After a quick practice Wednesday morning at Centene Community Ice Center in Maryland Heights, the Blues are headed on their longest road trip of the season, a five-game, 11-day trek that starts with back-to-backs on Thursday at Edmonton and Friday in Calgary.

The developments on the Binnington front weren’t the only good news for the Blues injury-wise. After missing four games with a lower right leg injury, forward Pavel Buchnevich was a full participant in practice Wednesday morning before the team flew out to Edmonton in the afternoon.

Blues with a great win against the Oilers 4-3 in a shootout OT....
First game of a 5 game road trip...
Binner was huge and Vladi scored with 19 seconds left in regulation to send it to OT..
Oilers had a goal disallowed in OT due to being offsides...

WOW....
LETS GO BLUES

EDMONTON, Alberta — The Blues went to overtime for the third game in a row, this time thanks to a very late goal from Vladimir Tarasenko to salvage a point and then the Blues won in a shootout with Jordan Binnington stopping all three shots in a 4-3 win at Rogers Place on Thursday.

Blues -flames coming up ...face-off in about 5 minutes ....for all Blues fans , calgary is where the Blues most hated opponent player kadri plays now .....

i hope Schenn or Faulk pounds his cowardly arse into submission...................I really really do..................

LET'S GO BLUES.......

Greiss has played real well! I think it is required that the opposing team have 40 or more shots against him anytime he is playing.

Blues win 5-2 against the flames......

I really think the comeback win last night against the oilers will propel the Blues on a redeeming season winning streak and get them back into the playoff scenario's.......

This 5 game 10 day road trip for the Blues right before Christmas has to be demanding , but 2 great wins to start it off is so awesome.....

LETS GO BLUES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

CALGARY, ALBERTA – In the not-so-distant past, a second period like the one that the Blues had on Friday against Calgary was made to order for disaster. The Blues spent almost the entire period in their own end of the ice, the Flames had three power plays, with two of the overlapping for 22 seconds of a two-man advantage. They were outshot 15-3 and went almost 12 minutes without a shot on goal.

Buoyed by a penalty kill that stopped three penalties in the second period, including 22 seconds of two-man advantage, the Blues ran their win streak to three games, their point streak to four and snapped their overtime streak at three as they exploded for three goals in the first 10 minutes of the third period to break open a workmanlike 5-2 win over the Flames at the Saddledome.

Yeah was thinking that also. Know Blues have played Calgary and Edmonton in back to back games on the road and won. Probably one of those things that happens on road back to back nights with this matchup every 4-6 year period.

CALGARY, Alberta — So, Colton Parayko was asked, which would you prefer? A Blues game like Thursday in Edmonton where the team pulled its goalie and scored a shorthanded goal with 19 seconds to play and then won in a shootout, or a game like Friday at the Saddledome, where the Blues weathered a lot of shots from the Flames but minimized their impact and then pulled away in the third period for a relatively easy win?
