No formal conversation between Illinois and Tiley doesn't mean there hasn't been a conversation.

Yeah, that isn't exactly a denial.
This.
His statement read in full simply reads like he was simply denying he was in Indy for a formal interview. Something that's been speculated here all along.
Don't hold your breath for an announcement next week, that seems clear.
I also find it odd that the search committee would let the media run with a George or Tiley rumor. If neither of these candidates are involved wouldn't it benefit the committee to leak the fact that Tiley and George are not involved? If Tiley and George aren't involved and they let the rumors persist then they are setting themselves up for a huge disappointment / failure when someone else is announced.
They have no control over the media or what rumors they chose to discuss. And I'm guessing very few of the leaks or rumors are emanating from the search committee.
People are going to speculate and if they're disappointed with the eventual hire there's not much you can do about that. Not worth the effort, IMO.
This should put the rumors to rest about Tiley ...

I didn't say they have control.

To think they can't leak information that is in their best interest is naive.
If they don't have Tiley or George they should leak that. All Shannon Ryan would need to do is Tweet "hearing from good sources that Tiley and George are not involved" and we'd be done with this.
This actually corresponds with what Tate said that Tiley has not interviewed for the job.
Tate said that, due to him being the CEO for Australia tennins, he cannot interview for a job and lose and try to come back to that position. It would be awkward at best. That is probably why that guy tweeted that Tiley did not interview for the job, so as to protect Tiley.
What I also gathered from my quick listen to Tate is that George was option #1, but it appears that we cannot pry him away from Colorado, due to his family or whatever. Thus, Tiley is next in line. All of the other interviews were just window dressing (and to comply with regulations).
Finally, I wouldn't put any stock in anyone saying that they are committed to finishing what they started at their current position. Everyone says that right up to the point that they take another job.

Heeke has removed himself from consideration. https://twitter.com/natejschneider/status/696078529302286336

Tiley out of the running per Shannon Ryan.
Everyone should mentally start prepping themselves for the Tom Michael show in ECI land. I'm not impressed or any more likely to contribute if that's the case. I'll hope he does well and proves my doubt wrong.

Of course a few days ago Shannon reported he'd interviewed in Indy....
Why does that make either report inaccurate? He could have interviewed in Indy and has since been eliminated from the list.
