If Tiley is out, its because theyve tried and he turned them down firmly. Some are acting like we have just decided he wasnt good enough??

Not sure if that was directed at my post or not but I was mainly talking about the quotes where applicants didn't even know if they were still in or not because of a lack of communication from our committee. That just screams "We don't know what we're doing!" Just like everything else they've done thus far.
As to the Tiley thing I have no idea just like 99.9% of those of us on this board. Like you I hope that if he is indeed out it's of his own accord and not because we "vetted" him and didn't think he was the man for the job or, even worse, he was one of those quoted saying he had no idea what was up because we weren't effective in our communication with him.

Again from Tupper: "One candidate said he was surprised to have been contacted a second time late this past week. He thought he might have been eliminated. Now he’s been told they may wish to speak with him again. So he’s not sure. Is he in or is he out?

That level of confusion contributes to the perception that dysfunction at the highest levels of the administration has infected what we hoped would be a decisive search."

Depressing. Totally depressing.

Definitely not directed at you. And I agree about the candidate not knowing if hes in or out. If thats all true, I dont know even know what to say about that.

I am kind of in a, "do what you do and lets see what happens thing with AD search". Let them get who they get. He could be a home run hire. Like people said, we hired the 2 time AD of the year and just fired him. So who know whats gonna happen. I just assume no one here actually knows whats going on behind the scenes of this one. The most logical thing was to assume we went after George, thats about it.

Why was Mike Thomas fired again? Once again we want to be on the forefront of political correctness. Beckman was his hire but he didn't condone or hide Beckman's BS.

Christ almighty. We are wandering in the wilderness, a ship without a rudder. If we end up hiring a great AD it'll be pure dumb luck.

I don't know what he was told, but this is just how interviews go sometimes. It's not over until it's over.

All three wanted the job at one point in time. Two expressed interest the last time it was open and those two also called it their dream job.

Must not have really been their "dream" job then. For Dream jobs, you take it when you can get it.

From the reports I've read, they weren't even given in person interviews. It's hard to accept a job you're not offered

EDIT: I realize now that you meant taking the job now. I was referring to when we hired MT instead. My bad.

We shouldn't need to get to an option 4. Whitman isn't going to say no if offered and he seems to be #3. It SHOULD be down to Tiley and Whitman

Are we sure that the people hiring agree that Whitman is #3? I hear conflicting things, but all are rumors so...maybe he is, maybe he isn't?

It's seems clear to me that Whitman is not number 3. If he was then this process would be over and he'd be our AD.

Baffling to me how incompetent this committee/administration is when the overwhelming majority of us can clearly see Whitman should be the choice if Tiley and George are out. And yet here we sit day after day after day......

And to think how much they are all getting paid to be this brutal:tsk:

No one knows nothing right now.
Each day the wind seems to blow in a different direction. It's frustrating but I am willing to wait on judgements until the process plays out.........hopefully by the end of the month.

What an awful, awful joke we are nationwide.....can't believe how !!! backwards this whole thing has been....I picture a Benny hill chase scene with that music playing with this whole process

I don't know if I would say that. Wilson appears to be very willing to let boosters go out and do their own courting thing before she makes any moves herself. Who's to say that the Tiley situation isn't playing out the way the Rick George thing did? The committee and Wilson could very well be sitting around waiting for their boosters to try to convince a guy who doesn't really want the job anymore. I have no idea what Tiley thinks of the job, but I could easily see that being the reason for the second delay. Or, maybe they're still waiting on George to finally say yes :D

Also, I can't even begin to fathom the meltdown on here if Frazier went to Minnesota and Whitman went to Purdue while we struck out on Tiley and George.

The thing that concerns me about this latest dead period is that we have no stealth candidate. Oh, I know, I know, "The last time around, Mike Thomas's name didn't surface until the very end of the search and he was on nobody's radar." But we also had a chancellor back then with some semblance of institutional control over the process and the willingness to bypass a bureaucratic step on occasion in order to move things along. The present administration operates about as stealthy as a battleship passing through a canal. At this point, I can only hope we're not just waiting for Godot, except Godot does show up and he's Tom Michael.

If we knew of a stealth candidate, they wouldn't be a stealth candidate. I'm with you on the concern though. :illinois:

And then is that the kind of employer you want to work for?
Just a preview of working in a place where no one knows anything and no one is leading.
