The new information the university has is that TJ was charged with the crime. That fact is very likely to be relevant to the committee. It certainly is not conclusive of anything, but it does indicate that the prosecutor(s), who have much greater knowledge of the investigation than the committee (or anyone on this board), think the investigation has turned up enough evidence to bring charges.

I think people are mixing up the "evidence" in the legal case and in the DIA case. Yesterday, Josh repeatedly said that the athletic department did not have enough hard information to initiate this suspension/review process (no notice of intent to file charges, no police report, no anything in writing). That changed Wednesday. The issuing of the arrest warrant WAS new evidence from the athletic department and university's perspective. That's why the suspension occurred and the review process has been triggered. The evidence that Josh was talking about that was needed to trigger this suspension is not necessarily the same as the evidence that will be put forward at the trial itself. Additionally, the burdens of proof in the two scenarios (trial vs committee) are likely different. The amount of evidence the committee will require to keep the suspension in place is going to be lower than the amount of evidence the court will require to convict him.
Really well-phrased. TY!

TJ didn’t withhold anything from Josh or Brad. Josh and Brad are also girl dads they wouldn’t choose money and winning over covering up a sexual assault. You realize Josh knows way more than he let on yesterday right?
Completely understood and agree that they know more, but how much more?. TSJ very well might be completely innocent of any wrong doing BUT he was charged with rape. It's not a rumor, at this point it's an actual charge. I am not taking sides just trying to be reasonable here as we have seen student athletes suspended for much less in the past. A rape charge is an extremely sensitive and serious charge, and while some have said I am already claiming he is guilty (which I am not and hope for his sake he is innocent) I just believe an indefinite suspension is warranted at this point.

IMO it would look horrendous if we let a player play while being charged with rape. What if they conclude he is guilty? How do you explain letting him play?

Unfortunately the judicial system isn' quick, which hurts all parties involved.

Remember, Brad said Illinois has a solid policy on how to handle these situations. The way this should, & probably will go is that TSJ & his attorney will present the case to the unbiased Illinois committee . They will share that TSJ is innocent & what really happened. They will share that the LPD would be under political pressure to prosecute because of the “type of case this is” and let the jury decide.

They will share that TSJ should not be punished until he has had due process. Until then he is innocent and should not be punished. The committee should then waive the suspension & TSJ will continue to play until the legal process determines the level guilt.

That is what should happen & what will probably happen - unless there is some clear evidence of his guilt which I moderately doubt or TSJ would’ve been prosecuted a long time ago

Well for one he was suspended indefinitely as soon as the charges were officially filed….2 do you really think they would play a kid if they didn’t know 100% he was innocent?

Josh said the DIA doesn’t conduct investigations on their own….and you all bought that line? Lol

Lol. Ok man. I don’t want to sound like a D but I’m not just guessing that Josh knows more.
When you say "knows more", are you talking about there being more to the bar story, how the PD handled things, or does he just generally know more than John Q Public? Also want to thank you for the nuggets of knowledge you and others provide, especially during times like these.
Edit: Just saw the above post. Answers my question, thank you

Thinking about Shannon watching the game last night and everything that must be on his mind. Some reasonable speculations...

How is this thing gonna turn out? Why did I even go there in the first place?

What is this gonna do to my pro chances? Am I gonna be labeled with this for the rest of my life?

Will I ever get a chance to put on the Illini uni ever again? Damn, we were going so sweet.

Who’s gonna stand by me through this whole thing? Who can I count on? Who's gonna turn?

The girl. What's up now with her? Who's talking with her? She OK?

What happens now when I approach somebody? How DO I approach somebody?

Geez. Gonna be spending my days on the wrong court now.

And finally... Man, my team looked great last night. Hope we keep playing like that. Hate not being out there...

Do you really think they can just come in here and spill their beans all over you?

Ask them how their day went.

Don't be so sure Josh knows more than he what he said yesterday in regards to any specifics of what happened in Kansas. He was very careful in how he responded to the question concerning the conversation with TSJ. Don't forget Josh is an attorney and would know since he is not TSJ's attorney, any statement made by TSJ to him could potentially be used against TSJ in the future. Unless Josh is representing TSJ, any statements by TSJ to him would not be protected by the attorney/client privilege.
Josh is not going to step into that mess.
Look, a 3 year member that has no clue who to listen to.

If you wanna know the truth, illini0440 is 1 of 3 people that I believe with any real knowledge of what happens in the athletic department.

There was something brought up in a previous post in the last thread, which didn't get a lot of discussion and never mentioned in this thread, concerning the fact that in the past, the alleged victim claimed that a different person had sexually assaulted her in a separate incident and pursued that claim also. If so, I believe that would definitely be a game changer and something the University could have already uncovered. @illini0440 , Blink twice if there is any smoke there.

In any event, even though this whole thing is very serious and should not be taken lightly, I feel better than when I first saw the headline and assumed forced sexual intercourse in a co-ed's dorm room.
