You realize that Illinois would have been a constant relegation candidate for most of the past 25-years?PLEASE LET THE ERA OF RELEGATION BEGIN!

We’d be the Everton in a conference full of Chelseas, Man Cities and Liverpools. You realize that Illinois would have been a constant relegation candidate for most of the past 25-years?
Honestly, if we're talking football, that's generous. Probably more like Blackburn Rovers or even Millwall. We’d be the Everton in a conference full of Chelseas, Man Cities and Liverpools.
Phil Knight and Nike money make Oregon a national program. No way they’re being left out of a top slot in a reformed super-conference.
UW and Oregon is a compelling pair; they’re already rivals, and traditionally battle for Northwest football supremacy. Big losers there are WSU and The Other OSU.
Theres lots ot losers today. Hopefully this means Illinois is going to come out ahead. I worry at some point the super teams of College Football are going to want to leave the rest of their conferences behind.
We are not mean or dirty enough to ever be a Millwall.Honestly, if we're talking football, that's generous. Probably more like Blackburn Rovers or even Millwall.
Eh, in the last 30 years Villa has been in the Prem all but one 3 season stretch. Don't think you'd be able to say the same of Illinois football in a world with relegation. We are not mean or dirty enough to ever be a Millwall.
We’re more like an Aston Villa. Great 100 years ago, and convinced we’re still on that tier today despite recent evidence to the contrary.
It becomes the Big Ten championship game, played on January 1stwhat happens to the Rose Bowl ?
For undergrads? By emphasizing professors who bring in research money over those who gave a damn about teaching would be my guess. I saw them 'force out' a great, tenured, teacher because they were not bringing in enough money. The Prof even offered to do a double teaching load so that a strong researcher, who disliked and was bad at teaching, could just do research and bring in more money. Win/win, right? UIUC said no.Yeah how did Illinois fall from about 5th in the 1980s to 47th?
The official numbers are never published, but the general understanding is that the NBC money is well below market value of what Big 10 teams receive. I’ve read estimates at $15-$18M for NBC moneyI geninely don't know how much ND pockets. Would B1G revenue split 16-24 ways start to rival that?
There is no way Notre Dame makes anywhere close to what the new B1G payout will be. They would be incredibly dumb to stay with the ACC, and there is no way they join the SEC. I think it’s a matter of time for them to join the B1G.The official numbers are never published, but the general understanding is that the NBC money is well below market value of what Big 10 teams receive. Part of it is that they started factoring in graduation rates. Give everyone a degree, USNews rates you as a better school.Yeah how did Illinois fall from about 5th in the 1980s to 47th?
US News also factors in selectivity, which disadvantages state schools along with graduation rates. State schools have a mission to serve their state and generally take a lot more borderline applicants than, say, Northwestern. So state schools are generally less selective and also have lower graduation rates than their private brethren.Part of it is that they started factoring in graduation rates. I'd prefer if Apple stayed far away from this. I don't need yet another streaming service.
The money could go way up.
"Hi Notre Dame. Last chance for a generation. You wanna join the B1G or not?"I'm guessing the B1G would take Oregon, Washington, iffy on Colorado and then walk away?
The money could go way up.
I'm not saying UCLA and USC gets you a monopoly in the Bay area, but their alums are enough to get you on cable there. That's significant. You can absolutely consolidate by going Berkley, Stanford or both. I'm just saying it may make more sense to add a large market in which you don't have any presence at all, such as Phoenix, Denver, Arlanta, Houston, Miami.
Living in the Denver area I would LOVE the chance to watch my Illini play within an hour drive of me... Please please please let it happen.I'm guessing the B1G would take Oregon, Washington, iffy on Colorado and then walk away?
