LVG dead man walking. The Chosen One takeover at season end. Massive warchest to overhaul the team. Neymar and Pogba will be a good start.
Huge win for the Spurs.
pretty poor call on the penalty considering the arm sterling supposedly touched the ball with was on the other side of his body from the ref.
The player jumped and made his body bigger with his arm in an unnatural position. The video angle from behind the goal showed that the ball did indeed hit his elbow. It was the correct call.

Look at this video 40 seconds in -
There is no way that is a handball. It hits his back/armpit.
Look at seconds 8-11 and how far he ran to deliberately throw himself in front of the shot. At the 9 second mark his elbow is facing the player with the ball. by the time the ball arrives his elbow is facing the corner flag. /B] It did hit the armpit and back of the arm / elbow as it exited. That is all that is necessary for a penalty to be awarded. Again...correct call.
What does any of that have to do with whether it's a handball?
What does any of that have to do with whether it's a handball? As for the angle at 8-11, it's an overhead angle where you can't tell were it hit. From 40-49 you can CLEARLY see it makes no contact with his elbow. Terrible call - and you know it's bad when Tim Howard can't even find a way to say the referee was correct, and when Thierry Henry and Jamie Carragher say a call went against City.
To be a handball, there has to be intent (a deliberate movement toward the ball). Had he continued and made the same play and contacted the ball with any part of his body other than the arm/ hand, then it wouldn't have been a handball. He clearly threw his arm into the path of the ball and made contact inside the box.
And using Thierry Henry as an example is laughable. He'll say anything to try to make Spurs look bad.
He threw his whole body, trying to block the ball with his back - which it clearly hits. Was he just suppose to walk over and let him cross the ball? Again, even if it did his arm (which I wouldn't really consider the underside of his arm/armpit, which you can't really tell if it hits or not, his arm since you cant really move that part of the body without cutting off your arm), how was it deliberate? When you jump your arms go up, it's a completely natural movement. Also, I used Henry since he was one of the people in the video. Jamie Carragher isn't a fan of Sterling at all and thought it was a terrible call. Tim Howard who tries everything he can to agree with referees since he's still in the league couldn't find a way to agree with it.
