So this move means we don’t have to watch Carpenter’s slow play anymore?
Not at 3rd. Probably at 2nd though if they decide not to give Edman the starting spot there. If the DH comes to the NL, I could see them putting Carpenter there.

I agree, unfortunately, he is the only OF that has shown any ability to hit RH pitching at all (I am hopeful on Carlson, too small a sample size).I'll be happy, happy, happy when this one gets off the books......
Dexter Fowler signed a 5 year / $82,500,000 contract with the St. Louis Cardinals, including a $10,000,000 signing bonus, $82,500,000 guaranteed, and an annual average salary of $16,500,000. In 2020, Fowler will earn a base salary of $14,500,000 and a signing bonus of $2,000,000, while carrying a total salary of $16,500,000.
Comes off after this season, right?I'll be happy, happy, happy when this one gets off the books......

Yes. Carp comes off too, unless he has "X" amount of at bats, then the next year vests.Comes off after this season, right?
Just looked it up, apparently needs 1,100 PA ro vest, with at least 550 in 2021. Unless there's some kind of Covid adjustment to that number, I think we're safe, as he had all of 169 PA in 2020, meaning he'd need 931 this year to trigger.Yes. If there is a prorate, it would be somewhere around 460 PA in 2020. That would still leave 640, yeah, likely safe there.Just looked it up, apparently needs 1,100 PA ro vest, with at least 550 in 2021. He was 3rd behind Jordan Walker.Arenado trade now official. Here are the details:
I believe Montero was the next 3B prospect for the Cardinals after Gorman.
Wow, didn't give up much at allArenado trade now official. Here are the details:

I believe he was well regarded, but also the 3rd ranked 3B prospect after Gorman and Jordan Walker (our top pick in 2020 draft). So with Arenado coming in he would have had a hard time finding at bats at the major league level.I thought Montero was well thought of, but still a position of minor league strength.
I can't imagine anyone else would want to sign a 39 year old catcher, whose hitting has been fading, along with his defense. I believe that he still calls a great game. I know the Cards want him for legacy purposes, and for the locker room. I just don't think another team would get as much from him.Looks like a little competition for Molina.
It's a pretty good deal for the Brewers.Wong gone to Milwaukee. Didn't want to see him go.
MLB Network insider Ken Rosenthal reported that it was a two-year, $18 million deal with a club option that could push the value to $26 million over three years.
The Jays would have to really WOW him. I also don't see Yadi going to another team for a little more money.I can't imagine anyone else would want to sign a 39 year old catcher, whose hitting has been fading, along with his defense. Holliday was a trade with Oakland.Rockies just love giving their best players to the Cardinals for basically nothing. Larry Walker, Matt Holliday, and now Nolen Arenado. Crazy.
