Idk might have been to our benefit. We can't string two hits together tonight. But I could completely see us bringing in the winning run with an advance on a groundout and a sac fly.Yeah. No Manfred man in the postseason thankfully.
I like Reyes but he had a bad 2nd half of the season. I was honestly hoping not to see him tonight. I really don't understand turning to him in such an important spot.Man. Reyes, I didn’t have a good feeling when they brought him in. McFarlane was ridding steady with pop-outs. Ugh. So many missed opportunities. So many runners left in scoring position.
I don’t wanna put this loss solely on Reyes, the big bats did nothing, but he is starting to look like the Cardinals’ Kerry Wood. The results don’t equal the talent.I like Reyes but he had a bad 2nd half of the season. I was honestly hoping not to see him tonight. Agree on the bats. Disappointing night for Goldy/O'Neill/Arenado. Especially when Edman did such a good job getting on base and swiping bags in front of them.I don’t wanna put this loss solely on Reyes, the big bats did nothing, but he is starting to look like the Cardinals’ Kerry Wood. #2 Seager, #3 T Turner #4 J Turner. That was the critical inning. Reyes had an easier inning, in theory, with Smith, Pujols, and Beaty. If someone gets on base the# 8 and 9 hitters are coming up. If you are a major league pitcher, you should have been able to handle it. Even the weakest should.Seems to me looking back , that Nolan A. was off some since the catch falling onto the tarp play...it wasnt long after that game that he had the tightness in his back and never regained his timing and prowess at the plate.....
A lot has been said about why Shildt brought in Reyes in the bottom of the ninth and I was wondering myself why Gallegos was pitching in the 8th inning...
Oh well , the season is over now....I'm looking now at will the cardinals sign Seager and trade DeJong..........
Good point....thanks for sharing that....It seemed that the Cardinals were squandering their opportunities and sooner or later the Dodgers would break through.....#2 Seager, #3 T Turner #4 J Turner. Yeah bringing in the Gallegos in the 8th was the right move. High leverage situation against their best bats. Now, what Schildt should have done in the 9th is bring on Jack or Whitley instead of Reyes. There's a reason Reyes lost the closer job, and I don't think it does him any service to put him in a high pressure situation with a baserunner on, when he's been struggling of late.#2 Seager, #3 T Turner #4 J Turner. Shildt fired over philosophical differences.
Me, too. Shocking. Sure hope they get a top notch man to take his place.Cardinals make stunning move, fire manager Shildt due to ‘philosophical difference’
Three weeks after a record 17-game winning streak, Shildt "floored" by dismissal from pro organization who groomed and inspired him.www.stltoday.com
In a stunning move less than a week after he guided the team to the postseason for the third consecutive season, the Cardinals have fired manager Mike Shildt.
John Mozeliak, president of baseball operations, said the move was made due to "philosophical differences." Mozeliak added that it was a baseball decision, related to the direction he and ownership intended to guide the major-league team and not anything beyond the ballpark.
"You want to make sure that everyone is on the same page," chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. said.
Shildt declined comment at this time.
The timing of the announcement indicates how stunning it is. It is unusual for a National League team to make such a decision and announcement on the same day as an elimination playoff game.

Well, that caught me by surprise....completely by surprise.......
A couple of months ago most of Cardinal Nation would have agreed. Today it's a bit of a surprise. I think they need an upgrade but not sure who.Me, too. Shocking. Sure hope they get a top notch man to take his place.
Egads, I hope not. Moe stuck with Matheny way too long as it was. They probably bring back Matheny. That would be a Moe move.
