I agree, Lowest basketball IQ I've seen in a long time, and from such a physical talent. He consistently holds on to the ball when a simple rotation to the weak side will open something up for his team mates. Both Shannon and Coleman got those turnovers by forcing what wasn't there, it's like they don't trust their team. I would like to see Coleman put on the bench and replaced with Hansberry every time he screws up. I like what I've seen from Hansberry so far, and with more tick hopefully he can shake some of his freshman jitters.
What do you expect him to say? He isn't going to (and shouldn't) drag Coleman through the media in the 3rd game of the season.
I go way, way back but will never forget Andy Kaufmann -- and crowd definitely turned on him. Would get those mock cheers whenever he would pass up a shot whenever it looked like he was about to go 1 on 3 again.
Right, in an absolute sense, that is sad 2pt shooting, since it was 10 for 25 or 40% on 2s.
Marquettes defense pushed us out around the 3 pt arch, and much of our offense started 20-25 ft from the basket. We didn't get many good looks in the paint. Our defense was too passive and let Marquettes offense penetrate into the lane too easily that resulted in too many easy buckets....our defense will have to be better to win against this type of opponent and we need to figure out how to get the ball into the paint more frequently resulting in easier buckets and this should help open up better looks from the arch as well.....also Marquette is good

I'm sure the behind the scenes stuff has a lot to do for your perspective, but really, Curbelo was only healthy his freshman year, and while yes, he would make poor decisions, that's generally what freshmen do. I can get fans being frustrated by his sophomore season, but he also suffered multiple concussions in the first few weeks of the season that greatly affected his play (yes, along with other reasons). For me, Curbelo wasn’t as frustrating as just a sad case, as I think frustrating play should almost exclusively be used for non-freshmen, because of course. Would've been interesting to see how Curbelo would have progressed if he would have remained healthy.
These are good comments, especially on the reality of what CH can be for IL against top-10 competition. He honestly isn't going to incredible in these very tough games. KU was probably the best he can play realistically. We can't rely on him as our number two scorer in these games. He CAN try to limit his TOs and avoid tough/long 3s. His drives and jump hooks are good 2s for him, but he was limited by good defenders in this game. On D, he needs to stay in front and not let guys get past him for layups. We need CH, so we have to encourage him to keep improving.
I would agree with your analysis.. However after attending virtually every home game since Brad became coach. I sit in my perch from above wondering what in the hell is our offensive goal? I will admit I am not a BB coach and the xs and os are not my strength, but that being said i have seen rec teams run better plays at the Disc in Decatur. Someone with some true BB knowledge feel free to explain to me what I am missing besides some dribbling hand it to TSJ and hope he can shoot a 3 drive or find a man parked out on the 3 pt line that feels like chucking up a 3.
Hawkins just does not have the killer instinct or consistency to be that go-to scorer. And it's maddening since he clearly has all the tools.
