2020-21 Illini Men's Golf

The first hole is pretty hard, but that said I'm sad to see Gio start with a bogey on 1. Feels like we're playing 4 vs 5 if he can't get untracked.

not a golfer, so didn't understand the afternoon more difficult than morning because its hard and fast comment made yesterday. after the bogey, at the moment, -4 for today in 7th - #2 FSU has tanked with +11 on the day

FSU, Wake, Clemson and Texas are putting themselves in jeopardy to miss out on the final 8. That’s 4 of the top 8. We just need to keep chipping away as we could get in the top 5 after today.

I was hoping Illini would go to Noblesville regional. I might have traveled to watch them. Good news: Feagles and Tadiotto have experience at Karsten Creek from 2018 NCAA Championship, I think.

I didn't noice that Palmer Cup isn't open to the general public.

But you can volunteer; I have as a shuttle driver all three days.

Just contact Vicky, RHF director of golf, at vmcgowan@richharvestfarms.com.
I just got a note that they still need volunteers for the Palmer Cup.

Usually harder in the afternoon because it is usually windier in the afternoon.

Gio and ADC need to throw in a birdie or two. Gio has not had a birdie in this tourney which is rare. If we can play the back 9 at -6 we will be in great shape going into tomorrow

Me, too. Can't wait; I'm doing two shuttle shifts. I urge golf fans to volunteer - it may be the only time you'll get to set foot on Rich Harvest Farms. Beautiful.

With a few holes to go, we're in good shape for the day with the third lowest score (today) behind OSU and ASU. Currently in 7th place overall, but Sam Houston State and TT have yet to play, hopefully one or both of them will have a poor day and drop in the standings.

FSU and Texas have really laid an egg today and barring something crazy look to be out of it.

Feagles is from Scottsdale. It would be nice to see him make a strong move.

Well, closed the day at +6 over the first two days, not great but still on good position (depending on the afternoon).

Didn't feel good about +5, they finish at +6. Hopefully other teams falter and they can squeeze in.

Don't they still have two rounds before they cut down to match play? I think they cut down to top-15 after three rounds, so there's still a long ways to go and Illinois is in good shape

That's the whole thng - you got to make it to final 15, then elite eight. Long way to go. One step at a time.

GO ILLINI!

I think anyone up to and including Florida State is still in decent position to advance with a good round tomorrow. Anyone at +20 or above is in big trouble, including some good teams like Texas, Georgia, Tennessee, and NC State

Yup, things can change fast. A golfer for Texas Tech came out today at +6 over the first three holes, so his score will almost certainly be dropped, leaving no margin for error among the other four players.

It looks like we will be no worse than 7 shots clear of the cut line tomorrow unless more teams drop under plus 13 which is where Vandy is sitting right now. Lots of golf remains today as Tech is dropping badly and will huge amounts of pressure on them. Florida State really hurt themselves and they have no room for error tomorrow. I like our chances to make the top 15 but we need ADC and Gio to step it up. I hope ADC shakes off the last two bogeys and puts a -3 on the board tomorrow. Gio also needs to get going as he is 36 holes without a birdie.

Really solid round today for the Illini. A huge plus when ADC has an off day and you still climb the board. Big round for Kuhl. Anything Small needs to do to keep us in the HUNT?
Sticking with my +20 call for top 8.

Texas Tech working on going from the lowest score yesterday to the highest today. That’s my kind of golf!
