Chicago Bears 2015-2016

Still baffled as to why Forte wasn't given the ball once on the GB 2 yard line down 8 points...

Thats the real story. Not handing it off to Forte from the 2.... We had a shot to win that game. I think we are gonna be a good team this year.

Packers fan here. I agree with most that the Bears looked better than expected. Shields is a pro bowl corner and got abused for most of the game, and that could be one of three things: the Bears offense is actually pretty good, the Packers secondary is actually not very good, or Shields just had an off game. Still, while the Pack have won a lot in Chicago recently, it's almost never a blowout regardless of how the teams do that year.

Scoring 16 points when the game matters just isn't going to cut it. Packers defense is just OK and looked like we were able to have a pretty efficient ball control offense, but that doesn't count if you can't get it in.

Front 7 got literally zero pressure in the passing game, aka par for the course against the Packers.

Overall, better than I expected. Some of the catches by the Pack's wideouts were crazy good. I hate that about them. It does not seem to matter who it is, they just catch what AR throws. AAAHHHHHHHH!!!!!

It's interesting to watch the complete evolution of the TE position. Once a blocking-first position, it's now evolved into a go-to position for offenses. Martellus Bennett is no exception to the evolution. He's a force, especially in the red zone.

The offense was able to move the ball and keep the D off the field, but was unable to punch it in. Cutler's one turnover was a great play by Matthews more than anything.

The defense couldn't get stops consistently and never had a big play - no sacks and no turnovers. When the Packers weren't killing themselves with penalties, they were able to move at will.

Robbie Gould is Robbie Gould and O'Donnell crushed a great punt. The return game did nothing special.

Not many penalties and no outstandingly dumb plays. Overall, the Bears looked like I thought they'd look. They'll win about as much as they did last year, but will look better doing it. They need more playmakers on both sides of the ball.

Maybe I'm just an old curmudgeon but I just didn't take that much positive out of yesterday's game other than the offense moved the ball better than I thought they would. However the Packers have a bad defense and more often than not the Bears had to settle for FGs instead of TDs. The Packers really didn't play that well (ton of penalties) and with the exception of two three and outs the Bears didn't stop them all day. Had zero pressure on Rodgers and he left with his jersey as clean as when the game started. I don't see much in the way of wins in the first six games or so with the exception of the Oakland game.

I completely agree. Those projecting postivity on to yesterday's performance are simply trying to salvage expectations that this season won't be lost. They will be rudely disappointed.

Against a poor defense, at home, the Bears' offense looked shallow. That final touchdown--a stat-padding misconception, which is a Cutler trademark--was handed to the Bears in the name of time consumption.

I disagree. The offense moved the ball very well, just couldn't finish. 2 field goals inside the 10 and turning the ball over on downs from inside the 5. Those will be touchdowns in the future. Cutler and Gase will continue to learn from each other and figure out how to finish drives. And Jeffery will be better once he's healthy.

Plus, Fox has the perfect game plan and it was executed almost perfectly. Keep Rodgers off the field. If we finish drives we win that game, or at least have a chance at the end.

First of all, coming up with that game plan wasn't exactly rocket science. What team doesn't try to control time of possession against Rodgers? We've heard it a million times before. Not to mention the Packers D is terrible so moving the ball on them (just like they did at home last year) is not a total surprise. Also the Packers did not play well with ten penalties. Did the game plan also include no pressure on Rodgers, allowing him to have a 140.5 QB rating, and allowing the Packers 6.1 yards per play?

It's the best offense in the NFL vs one of the worst defenses in the NFL. There is no coach on the planet that would've done much better with the talent on defense right now. Fuller is really the only guy who can make plays.

Can't disagree much with you there, with the exception that the jury is still out on Fuller.

Bears safeties and corners are awful. They can't cover anybody. Bears pass rush is putting decent pressure on Palmer in the first half. And now Cutler with a pick-six and gets hurt trying to make the tackle. Clausen in the game. Cardinals are gonna score forty or more.

I don't see a way this team wins more than 4 or 5 games.

That might be optimistic. We will see how they match up against the Raiders in two weeks but who else is worse than this team. Titans perhaps? Saints and Lions look bad but at least Saints have a Hall of Fame quarterback.

Was at the game and the whole stadium went into an uproar of applause when they announced Jays injury, it was pretty disgusting.

That said, lose as many games as it takes to get Jared goff

They have a decent running game. But I don't see how they'll sustain it as long as they're facing 8 and 9 man fronts while Cutler's out.

The defense is horrible. They simply do not have enough NFL caliber players on that side of the ball to stop people consistently.

The kicker and punter are good.

This might be a historically bad Bears team. A first over-all pick in the draft style of bad.

It will be interesting to see how this new staff reacts to this situation. Fox and his coaches have a lot of experience and they were already making personnel moves during the Cardinals game. Will this bad start just snowball, or can this team rebound? Is there enough talent to rebound?

How badly does the new regime really want to rebound? They're in their grace period and could be looking at a top-3 draft pick and a lot of money coming off the books (Allen, Cutler, and Forte could all go) next year.

It's easier to rebuild in football than baseball, but Pace and Fox may be doing a one year "Epstein."
