Honestly, I'm pretty happy with Brad, but those years before him were so bad. Lou built the program into something solid, then Lon Krueger did a nice job, and things were going well when he took the NBA job, and Bill Self was hired. Of course he was great while we had him, and losing him was a huge blow. Bruce Weber could coach, and while he had all that great talent, it was great. Unfortunately, after a few years, we just weren't getting the most "elite" players. Don't get me started on the Groce years. Both Bruce Weber and John Groce were good people/coaches but they just couldn't get the talent. I thought maybe Chris Collins could do both, and I hate to see him go to either Iowa or Indiana where we would have to go up against his teams without the "constraints" of Northwestern's academic standards. FYI, I came to U of I with Lou Henson, in the 75-76 year, and graduated in 79 (the year Eddie Johnson and Mark Smith's Illini beat Magic's MSU team. Since I moved to St. Louis after college, I would only see the Illini in the Braggin' Rights game and whenever they had nationally televised games. These last 5-6 years since Brad brought us back, I've been able to watch almost every game.I love your online handle. I believe we are from the same era, at Illinois. No way do I think he is the guy for the Illinois job though. It's ridiculously hard to accomplish what the Illinois is capable (some day) of accomplishing. At least from my perspective.
Yes he has and it will be real interesting to see how it effects their all new fantastic ERA seating bullcrap. They will lose season ticket holders. Sadly he was getting things turned around and headed in the right direction but there will be empty seats next year.

its not real. Brad was close to taking the job during the cycle when they hired Shaka, so anytime that job opens up his agents try to squeeze us for more. Brad isn't going anywhere. Texas definitely wont want to pay $16m for a 61 year old coach, especially after this year he is having. Brad is staying.
I hope he stays at NW. I agree with you that Iowa wouldn't be an upgrade for him unless it was a very large bag of money. IU scares me, though I think he'll go with Beard. Mainly, I don't want my most hated teams (Iowa, Indiana and Michigan) to have good coaches. Michigan has already achieved that, I'm hoping the other two don't!
