I’m really not trying to stir the pot on this.

But it’s awful funny what a victory and (I guess the perception of a better game plan) …will do for the psyche of this place.

We had another dude go off again and get 31 on us…and this board has said less about it than Harpo Marx. If that had gone the other way…I suspect we would of heard it this time too. Lol
Shows that a large percentage of our issues are self-inflicted.

no offense, but I think far too much is made of a player's body language, expression, whether he's cheering as loud as the other guys or as much as we think he should be.
No offense taken. I certainly don't know about DD specifically and someone else mentioned that kinda being his personality. However, in general...players, people, everyone in the world...I think body language says a lot. Maybe nothing here though.

Muck Fichigan, that is all...
My spouse's former boss is a jerk and a BIG scUM fan/alum. It's been years since I've seen him, yet tonight my greatest pleasure comes from imagining him crouching in the dark in his basement surrounded by blue and yellow knowing his beloved were beaten AGAIN by the good guys and most probably kept from the 💃. Thank you guys!

They should ditch T. Hansbrough IMO.
Completely agree. I've listened to a few of the after darks now and he brings absolutely nothing to the table. He offers no analysis, no insight, no personality, no humor, and no original takes. Not sure why he's there. Greg is pretty great in his role as a comedic instigator and he does have some pretty decent takes when he's being serious. Just goes to show Michigan fans aren't all bad, so long as they never actually go to Ann Arbor for school

Nothing is easy with this team, their continued lack of execution made this game harder then it had to be, with that said, a win is a win, now they've set themselves up nicely to improve on their seeding and going into Mackey Arena and pulling off a upset and a deep BTT run would do just that. Side note: what the hell has happened to Dainja? Has BU just given up on the kid?

Dee's full court speed with the ball is unmatched... however...

When TJ makes up his mind to go...his power and acceleration is like, unbelievable. I actually think he goes so fast that he can't control the dribble which gets him into trouble.
TSJ has more speed and power than Brown in driving to the hoop with the ball. Brown, with the ball in full court, is about as fast as they come. Two different things...but not so much different that we should care. Glad both were Illini....in the end.

Kudos once again to Lieb – although he was a -2, but came in and held his own with Hunter at a time when the team needed a big to just play a solid 2 minutes.

I thought Conner Serven was a senior. Glad he’ll have a chance next year if he chooses to come back. It’s always tough to see a player end their career injured. Plus, he has the best NIL deal, as one of NCAA’s most rested players.

TSJ just absolutely willed the Illini through that first overtime. Both he and MM are players with flaws, but they showed up last night and died hard, like seniors should. Tip of the cap.

Illini Inquirer talked about CoHawk's possibility of coming back for next year, in yesterday’s postgame pod: https://247sports.com/podcast/illin...llinois-fighting-illini-athletics-podcast-22/
I was listening to it after the game but fell asleep, so I’m not sure exactly which minute it was at. Basically, Werner and Piper seemed to think CoHawk will test his feet with NBA teams for feedback, while the new ICON NIL collective will be prioritizing an enticing NIL $$$ package for him, to try and lure him back for another year.

Also thrilled about Ty’s play, CoHawk's 49 minutes, RJ having a solid game, Goode, attacking the rims, and catching such an EPIC Illini game!
I don't think Hawkins is going to the NBA. He is a bit overshadowed by Mayer and TJ currently and is not the focal point of the offense where he can truly showcase himself. He has his moments of course and his games where he looks like a sure fire NBA draft pick but then he takes a seat back in other games and/or isn't always as consistent as he can be. I would be shocked if he doesn't come back to college. We'll gladly take him back for another year if we can. He's a little bit of an enigma but I think he's starting to make less mistakes, take less bad shots, and playing smarter as the year has gone on.

I also have no hair left

One might say that the Illini prevailed by the length of a...

Anyway, this game would have been a soul-crushing loss. Instead, they seized victory instead of folding and giving up when things were going sideways near the end.

This gives additional hope for the Illini showing in the Tournaments. While at key moments this past season they suffered from the lack of a floor Alpha... against Michigan the Illini Alpha-spirit showed up big time — shared by a couple of guys.

No Clark. No Epps. Just imagine those guys at their best added to that floor mix.

Yeah, totally. He offers nothing to the show. He’s just a complete dud. It’s almost embarrassing how bad he is.Greg W. and the other dude, seem to be sitting there just sorta hoping he gets through it…seems like they’re legit nervous and nodding in encouragement almost. They definitely seem uneasy when he starts in. It’s pretty bad…a couple times they looked outright puzzled by what he had to say.
He’s walking proof that..just because you played D1 basketball at high level it doesn’t mean you can talk intelligibly/somewhat articulately about it.

I loved Coleman took it hard into the lane multiple times early in the game. Unfortunately they did not drop so he stopped doing it. Instead of practicing 3 pointers he should practice the 8 footers jump hooks, finger rolls and fadeaways.

But this year that has translated into a charge about 80% of the time (if a foul is called). Got to stop lowering that shoulder.

This math isnt mathing........

TSJ draws like 3-4 shooting fouls on drives per game. For 80% of the calls on his drives to be charges he'd have to charge like 16 times LOL

Even if he even drew 1 foul on drives a game, he'd have to average 4 charges to make that math work. He seems to get 1-2 charges a game. Its probably less than 50%

Do I wear the orange blazer to Mackey or nah... As I was driving in to Champaign today after 400 miles of looking at corn, five Teams meetings, and a lot of podcasts , I was thinking, am I nuts?

Well, clearly, the answer is yes but also no.
This team is, somehow, improbably, becoming really dangerous at the right time. And they're finding a way to do it in spite of a level of disruption at the PG position that would wreck a lot of teams.
Ty was a revelation out there. That dude's ceiling is really really high.
I believe.
Corn?

Giving this a 'Like' for the Harpo Marx reference.
