Can anyone tell me if we would be interested in Brady Allen (PU) or Nick Evers (OU) both in portal and both were 4 star QB recruits

Definitely not Evers since he announced going to Wisconsin 9-10 days ago :ROFLMAO:

Luke Altmyer reminds me of the type of QB that BB likes to run the offense. Atlmyer might not have the strongest arm but runs the offense well and accurate.

Reading some of the comments in here is quite amusing. If anyone thinks Illinois is struggling than maybe you are stuck in Groundhog Day from before BB.

Something tells me we are gonna be just fine. Also, the longer we keep our own transfer out list quiet the better. I know you all love the word culture, but it is here with this program.

I admit I was one of those that was pretty frustrated yesterday. I had some time to calm down and take a step back and analyze everything. We’re going to be fine. Card just didn’t fit our style of offense and he wanted to go somewhere where he can constantly air the ball out. He isn’t the right fit for our team. Our style of offense is more balanced and running the ball. We need a QB that can throw the ball but is also efficient in running our style of offense.

Honestly, I think it's more that some of these folks needed to take a chill pill about how much we'd become a national powerhouse when we were 7-1 on Halloween.

But Card to Purdue is surprising and disappointing and it would just be fakery to pretend any different.
In what way is it surprising and disappointing? PU has had a QB friendly offense and has an air raid disciple as OC. We have a run first offense and likely always will as long as BB is HC. Unless we were able to offer some outrageous NIL $ this should not be at all surprising.

Altmyer’s got an arm and appears to be mobile. He missed some receivers in this video but some of the receivers also missed some catches that should’ve been made.

This is from the Sugar Bowl.

This is from the Sugar Bowl.

A pretty similar player to TDV.

Adequate height and size but no more than that, adequate arm strength but no more than that, very mechanically sound, good feet and a good overall athlete, and the big strength of his game is rhythm and touch on his throws, allowing Lunney to use him to "hand off" the ball basically anywhere within 5 yards of the LOS sideline to sideline and keep the defense guessing about where the point of attack is.

A definite fit for what we do.

But there's a risk-reward. The reward is that he has 3 years left unlike TDV, the risk is that he's barely played unlike TDV. TDV showed he could be a quality, reliable starter on an okayish team in 2019. Altmyer hasn't done that.

I don't know if this is realistic, I'm sure he has other suitors, but few will have as guaranteed of a starting job as we do, and presumably some NIL cash to splash.

Ship has sailed......waiver got denied. Altmyer will probably be our QB next season.
First, I'm just some guy that has been following Illinois sports since the late 70's/early 80's when I was 6-7 years old, and am in no way shape or form part of the program - I'm an alum and professional in an unrelated field, so take this all with a grain of salt.

BUT, if we get Altmyer and anyone on this board is not ecstatic about that, they are crazy.

For anyone that has followed our beloved Illini for more than a few years, this is the best the program has looked (including the future), since White and Mackovic. Sure Turner and Zook had some good years, but you could tell things weren't going to be sustainable.

This looks and feels very, very different.

Frankly, I thought the Beilema hire was solid, but not without risks. So far, I have to say I have been blown away by not only the improvements on the field, but by the way he has managed the program. I thought he was carried somewhat by Alvarez at Wisky and got exposed at Arkansas - but based on what we're seeing so far, I was way, way off with that.

Hopefully the improvements keep coming and I would love to see the day when we are fighting and complaining about 8, 9 and 10 win seasons every year - and 7 wins cause a massive freakout calling for big changes.

It's a great time to be an Illinois Football fan. . . and Underwood will straighten things out with hoops, hopefully it doesn't get uglier fist though.

The exact same thing was being said in 1999, and then the exact same thing was being said in 2007.

It isn't different. It's the same. Pure 20:20 hindsight to pretend anything different.

But that's good news, because Turner and Zook were in fact both building well conceived sustainable programs, and only a litany of mistakes and failures derailed them. They had it, they were doing it, and they blew it. We're being offered another bite at the apple, let's take it.

Lucy has never pulled the ball away from Illinois football, every single time it's been *us* failing to direct our foot to it.
