Ayo would get anyone excited, Conditt/Castleton/Sow are all I expect out of the 5 and would be underwhelming but expected based on what we have to work with. The 3 is where someone like Finke would be underwhelming especially if combined with Pearson.

Castleton is supposed to be top 100 next time around. He would be a great get. Sow is very good, too.

My new dream class is Ayo, Stewart, Nolley, Castleton.

Castleton just got owned by Conditt the other day.

Yes. Granted, it was only one game and AAU, at that. But that showing makes me look at Conditt in a different light and illustrates his high potential.

Well so far, in this order, our dream team is : Ayo, De Sousa, Ignas, and THT.........Stewart is in 5th

Hearing DJ Stewart less and less likely, really likes the idea of playing with Reggie Perry at Mississippi State.

Hearing Ayo, Finke, Pearson, and either Sow/Conditt will be the class, unless a guy like De Sousa wants in.

that's pretty much my guess as well, as far as who we get. as Much as I would love to get both Sow and Big George, I don't see us getting them both, so Pearson still adds to our size and could let Big George sit out his first year to get way stronger, and fill out . if we land AYO to be honest the rest of the class is just going to be Icing on the cake no matter who it rounds out being

I've said it before, CONDITT IS A MUST GET. You guys are sleeping on this kid, his potential is limitless he's long, has guard like handles, can shoot 3's, soft touch, pretty good shot blocker, athletic and can run the floor better than any other big we are looking at. Look at his highlights and tell me he wouldn't fit perfectly with what BU wants from his 5's. Obviously he needs to gain weight but he's got time, the kid can play at a high level.

I'd be HIGHLY disappointed if the '18 class ended up with one stud, one mid-major tag-along, one borderline top-100, and one kid falling precipitously in the rankings. Totally deflating.

Without even seeing the basketball product on the court this year, you'd be upset with an Ayo, his buddy Pearson, Conditt and a Finke? That'd be an impressive haul IMO. I don't think you can expect much more than that without some success on the court.

Interesting Henricksen article on the state of Illinois high school basketball. Kind of a sad eye opener for anyone thinking we're the powerhouse we once were.

http://www.suntimeshighschoolsports.com/2017/07/11/henricksen-storylines-follow-july/

"If Dosunmu, the only Illinois prospect with a chance to be chosen as a McDonald’s All-American in the Class of 2019, is left off, it would be alarming for a state recognized for its high school basketball. And here’s why.

Illinois didn’t have a player selected to play in either the 2016 or 2017 McDonald’s All-American Game. That is the first time in the history of the 40-year-old game where Illinois didn’t have a single player in back-to-back years. Now we’re talking a possible third straight year?

Our state’s last McDonald’s All-American was Stevenson’s Jalen Brunson in 2015."

And...

"Illinois has just two players in Rivals’ top 100. There are three players from Illinois in Scout’s top 100."

Fair- guess I meant underwhelming by being borderline top 100
Bigs which is probably our biggest weakness right night- especially in terms of depth. Still would be happy with any of the three.

Seems teams like Mississippi State, Western Kentucky, and Mizzou are doing alright without a bunch of success. *shrug*

I don't know much about the situation at Miss St, but I don't think we need to be trying to emulate the paths of Western Kentucky and Mizzery.

I would take him in a heartbeat....I like the competitive fire and will to take over!

:thumb: I would not be disappointed a bit if we get him.

I would love to have Ayo, Conditt, Stewart, Nolley...Strong Guard, 2 wings, and a player with so much upside, unlike many if any we have gotten before at that position.

Conditt vs Castleton vs Sow are all very good options. Would almost rather see 2 post players instead of two wings. Conditt looks like he could even play the 4 for us.
Obviously we are recruiting EJ and Okoro next year but neither should be deterred by the players we have an there is 0 guarantee we land either.

Wing is still Ignas, THT, Stewart for me

I haven't counted all these prospective classes, but I not sure we have enough OV's to accommodate everybody.

Wow, the scholarship grid is up to 25 names uncommitted/offered for 2018-2019. Ya would think that would be enough to get those 3 open slots filled. Step up players, your table is set.

If we get smoked again this year, I'd be surprised if we get anyone big. People want to come here, but they can't b/c we don't win. Been the story for years now. New coach hype can only get you so far.

Fall signing day is before we ever play a game, so whether we get smoked or not is irrelevant to the discussion around who we obtain in the class of '18.
