Agreed. I used to think there was no defense in the NBA, but that was out of ignorance and I've watch the Bulls all season this year due to Ayo.

Great shooters everywhere in the NBA, which makes defending the pick-and-roll so difficult. I also actually think they call a ton less ticky-tack fouls on the interior in the NBA than they do in college, so the defense is better near the hoop.

However, the #1 reason for higher scores is the shorter shot clock and a 48-minute game instead of a 40-minute game.
As much criticism as Big 10 officials take, watch an NBA game and see how many illegal screens are missed. It doesn’t make the job of the defense any easier.

This is honestly a pretty laughable take. NBA defense is really good its just the offense is so much better. As we say with Ivey good offense beats good defense. Every player in the NBA can make shots with a hand in their face and they have more room to operate than in college.
Agreed. When I hear someone says there's no defense in the NBA, I know it's someone who doesn't watch much NBA (or just a hater).

Shannon or Reeves would be great. Thinking Shannon forgoes his 5th year for the draft. Reeves has a pretty bullish trajectory. Nearly 40% on 3s, 47% FG, and he's carrying the Redbirds offensive load. Great length. Simeon product. 2 years left? Yes, please.
I've seen Reeves several times this season. He's the real deal, although I have no idea if he's interested in transfer. He plays on a team that's not worth a damn and hasn't been for a while. He's bigger and more athletic with more length than our current 3 starting guards.

In the playoffs, the defense is incredible (typically).

In the regular season, defense in the NBA seems optional. It is generally there, but at times, the effort is laughable.
Yeah, why waste time calling travel violations or playing intense defense when your goal is ESPN's top 10 highlights.

I've been saying this forever. I think Rodgers will be the Damonte everyone wants, but they also have him listed as a 53% FT shooter.

People need to realize Rodgers is bigger, stronger, and more athletic that most of his opponents. Makes it much easier to put up gaudy numbers. However still needs to work on his shooting. He will likely begin his career as a garbage man, playing tough defense, rebounding, and scoring on drives or putbacks.
This cuts both ways though: he's the #1, #2, and #3 priority on opposing team's scouting reports. He's the only ranked player on that Thornton team, so clearly team's are going to be doing everything they can to take him out of the game. Yet he's still able to dominate and in ways that have little to do with size and strength (ie, his assists). I don't expect 20 rebound games from him in college but the fact he's a savvy passer and looks to have a solid handle for his size bodes well for what he can still do on the court when the competition can better match his physical attributes.
