Sounds like we want TSJ more than Hopkins. I remembered we wanted Hopkins back to his high school days. Am I wrong?
We need Tsj (or Murray) more than Hopkins. Way more need for a SG (especially one w experience) than for a PF/combo forward.

I feel like the KSR guys usually have some connections, so I wouldn't completely dismiss it.
any truth to this?
Miller, Curbelo, Ayo, and Frazier all did well as freshman? Why is it that other schools can have freshmen guards, do well, but Illini can't?
#45 in the U.S. colleges in endowment.
I was apparently wrong! Taylor has rejoined MIF and played with them tonight. Unfortunately they got destroyed.Probably not, aside from transferring to Donda Academy last fall he also just transferred to Lebron’s AAU in California from Mac Irvin. His recruitment has been pretty mellow so far. Kentucky was once thought to be the favorites but I believe they deprioritized Taylor so no team is thought to be a favorite right now.
Pete Maravich was the most innovative and exciting basketball player l have ever seenLol. I read someone at LSU charted every shot and if they'd had 3 pointers back then he'd have made 12 a game and his ppg average would have gone up to 57. And btw he set that record in just 3 years because back then freshmen couldn't play varsity!
Murray would be a great get but I think you do the best you can and work with what you have. Gotta trust in the staff and wait for the fun to start. I think we're going to be F-U-N to watch this fall.We need Tsj (or Murray) more than Hopkins. Way more need for a SG (especially one w experience) than for a PF/combo forward.
MIF has been down for a few years. Still some great players but definitely the 3rd best program going in the Chicagoland area behind MeanStreets and Wolves.I was apparently wrong! Taylor has rejoined MIF and played with them tonight. Unfortunately they got destroyed.
Why is it some posters have such short-term memories? Honestly, the above statement is crazy and makes my head hurt. Why is it that other schools can have freshmen guards, do well, but Illini can't?
My all time fav Maravich play...leading the fast break...hit the FT line with a teammate on each side, went with a behind the back pass with his left hand all the way around his body and back to the teamate on his left! Tried it in an intramural game soon after...fail.Pete Maravich was the most innovative and exciting basketball player l have ever seen
Hands down a magician and kept me saying how did he do that
JMHO
I was replying to the posters that said we need an experienced point guard and I was asking why.Miller, Curbelo, Ayo, and Frazier all did well as freshman?
What? Well, what in the world is he doing being an actual student first, athlete second for? No one does that anymore. s/My very limited understanding is that Lieb wants an Illinois degree.
He did this year.Saw a mock draft yesterday that did not even have him in the top 70. Can he get much better in college?
Agree 100%Nobody should be blamed for failing to keep up with threads that need to be wiped clean every day b/c there's so many posts. I mean, you miss one day and you'd need to go find an old thread just to find out what was asked yesterday.
It’s probably more on Bryce’s end than Illinois’ right now. Not sure how badly Illinois wants him but I’m sure if they do want him he’ll end up in Champaign.I feel like the KSR guys usually have some connections, so I wouldn't completely dismiss it.
Anyone know his username? Maybe he'd play duos or squads with Illini fans.
What are you talking about? I'm saying I think we could be better in 2022 with freshman guards. Why is it that other schools can have freshmen guards, do well, but Illini can't?
Uggg seeing Belo's stat line made me sad.. So much potential, wish he was staying. He could have put up 15,8,5 with a few triple doubles each year. Best of luck to him regardless! Why is it some posters have such short-term memories? Honestly, the above statement is crazy and makes my head hurt.
2017-18: Trent: started 16/32 games; averaged 12.5 pts, 3.1 ast; B1G All-Freshman Team
2018-19: Ayo: started 32/32 games; averaged 13.8 pts, 3.3 ast, 4.0 rbs; B1G All-Freshman Team
2020-21: Miller: started 31/31 games; averaged 8.3 pts
2020-21: Belo: 21.5 mpg; averaged 9.1 pts, 4.2 ast, 4.0 rbs; B1G All-Freshman Team; B1G Sixth Man of the Year
Just because BU chose to lean on the upperclassmen this past season doesn't mean freshman guards don't do well here. The roster was unlike any we've had previously or will have in the future due to the extra covid year. BU has played freshman when they're the best option. He will do so again. This isn't complicated.
YessirA lot of us have been lurking for years and we’re very active before under different usernames.
I can't fathom a player averaging 44 points a game for 3 entire seasons without a 3 point line. That's insane.Lol. I read someone at LSU charted every shot and if they'd had 3 pointers back then he'd have made 12 a game and his ppg average would have gone up to 57. And btw he set that record in just 3 years because back then freshmen couldn't play varsity!

Demetri McCamey, Kiwane Garris, Bruce Douglas, Derek Harper, Dee Brown............the list goes on. A very proud tradition of excellent Freshman guard play.Miller, Curbelo, Ayo, and Frazier all did well as freshman?
