I'm here to offer my condolences to the MIF family on their "loss":

I thought I saw an article that said entire Illinois athletic program had couple hundred thousand in NIL last year but I cant find it. Only $ amount is $65k for campus ink t-shirts. I don't know how much Kofi got for OSF health care and TCCI mfg. These just don't seem to be type of companies that would be making 7 figure payouts to recruits/ahtletes.

You would need billionaires alums to step forward like - Tom Siebel, Larry Ellison, Shahid Kahn (owns Panthers) , Marc Andreesen, Martin Eberhard (Tesla cofounder). Jon Corzine (Goldman Sachs) Jeremy Stoppelman (YELP founder)

Kofi and DaMonte - local pediatrician

Andre -credit union

Pretty impressive (sadly) that this new thread is already up to seven pages w/ no new real information--just more hot takes and panicking.

I'll just say I'd be pretty excited to see Pete Nance in an Illini uniform for one season. He could help ColeHawk quite a bit, I'd imagine: showing him how to expand his game. They seem like pretty damn similar players.
A quick question regarding Nance. Since he is graduating then does he not need to enter the portal to avoid sitting a year? So the May 1st deadline doesn't apply to him then. Does it apply to graduating transfers or not? It seems it does not but I'm not sure. I noticed he didn't mention the portal at all but does he need to in his situation?

So not to break up the party. But are there any transfers we are actually linked to at this point? Maybe the dude from Wichita state?

Grad transfer....deadline doesn't mean anything......no he wouldn't mention the portal when announcing he is entering the draft.....he would mention the portal when he withdraws his name from the draft.

Lot of drama in AAU basketball and a lot of drama with the Irvins. Anderson=Meanstreets MIF=Irvins......Irvins always feel slighted if they don't get what they want.

For all their drama, Brad really maneuvered the MIF/Irvin's situation as well as he could it seems. Got in with Chin and MIF to get Ayo and Miller, but had to spurn Horton-Tucker to do so. It looked like a questionable decision after Maui in 2018 but we know now that ended up being a huge win. 3 years of Ayo >> 1 year of THT.

And then he brings in Tim Anderson to replace Chin just as Meanstreets is becoming the more prominent program compared to MIF. Bravo!

Some of you need to realize we aren't going to beg talent to come here anymore. We aren't in the Groce years anymore. We don't need to pine over every 4 star guy who might be interested in us....I can tell you the staff for sure isn't.

Brad Underwood: ‘I Love Illinois’.

“But, man, I love Illinois. We’ve got the best fans, I’ve got a great boss, we’ve got a top 10 program and we’re winning Big Ten championships.”

And Brad is looking for players who WANT to love Illinois, too. No ‘begging’ needed around here. Not now, not ever.

The greatest trade of all time.....TA is light years better than Chin.

Well thanks for the verification. While I'd love to have Nance and if he pulls his name and he would likely leave. I dont think BU is waiting around on Nance or anyone to decide for ling. BU is seeking out other viable options that are willing to sign on rather than wait on someone to make up their mind like we did Kofi last year . I am looking forward to see who they may be.

I feel like most of the crazy takes on here lately have come from 2 sides:

-Fans who are still scarred from the down years, and fail to see that we're on another level now. Thus, they are expecting the sky to come falling down any time now.

-"Fair weather" fans who have decided to become more active now that we are good again. They don't really know much about college basketball, but like to voice their crazy takes anyway.

You're right, but when an "insider" goes so far as to call a recruit a lock, I've got to think there was more than flirting happening.

There is plenty of indication on other players as well.
Just shows you its never a lock until they are signed. So why even go there.

Kahn owns the Jaguars not the Panthers

For crying out loud, can we have a little patience please? It's still freakin' April. We dont have to fill up our roster by May 1st. Let this play out.
A lot of people on here have patience but when someone on here posts that certain players are a lock, this is what happens. I understand they are dealing with young men that sometimes change their mind at the last second so why stick your neck out like that knowing this.

After reading a lot of people stressing out I think maybe we should trust the guys we are paying big money to figure out the best fits for the team.
Now let's get back to talking about 1970s high school basketball and neck sizes like we are supposed to.

Maybe we've joked about it so much that everything just thinks it's only a joke, but no one should ever take a "lock" as ironclad until there's a signed letter proving it.
