Does anyone on this board think Rodgers has an efficient jumper..? We get it...I still think he can be a reliable scorer...
This probably has already been discussed, but what's stopping him from becoming more of a scorer by putting up 500-1000 shots a day this summer like TSJ did last year? Or is this not a goal for him? I guess we'll find out what improvements the coaches have in mind for him this summer.

Nothing, I think.

Folks can often discount the massive leap in access to facilities, coaching, and other support that comes once a kid is on campus. Most high school kids don't have the luxury of being able to wander into the gym, fire up the gun, and get 1000 shots up whenever they want to. They have little video, far less talented coaches (nothing personal against those who coach at lower levels, of course), no access to the training table and fancy S&C equipment, and so on. Once they get here you can see some dramatic improvements because of all that.

If he doesn't improve his shooting a bit over the next couple of years, maybe something else is going on. But just by the eye test there's nothing I can see that would prevent him from growing as a player, he's got the tools and apparently the drive.

John Scheyer said a long time ago. Why go to Illinois to compete for BIG championships if I can go somewhere to compete for national championships. Well he was right apparently. When is our fanbase going hold our program to higher standards? We act like we are a blue blood, but defend our program that can't get to a sweet 16. Programs across the country have turned nothing into something. We have turned something into average. If we can't be thick skinned enough to hold our leaders to higher standards, then we need to root for Northwestern.
Hammer meet nail. I wish I could repost this a thousand times. If you aren't 100% loyal to the players and Brad, you will get reamed -- especially on this board. And that's when you simply point out what anyone with eyes can see. Being loyal doesn't mean you have to accept the results we've seen over the past few years. Losing to Loyola? Seriously? I love Illinois and all its sports. But if Illinois wants to be considered in national discussions, they have to do better. Much better. 20 years from now no one will know (or care) how many games Brad and the Illini won. They'll only ask if they won anything important. To date, they have not.

~can you ever post a positive point. It would be tough to go thru life like that.

Like I said myself, I am in the Hawk doing what is best for him. If he goes pro, we have a plan to replace him. Going pro jus keeps the program producing players. If he is back, then we will be a FF team.

I was out till 4 am before Penn State game as well and was only in good enough shape to watch that atrocity.

This is disappointing to hear. I've been no stranger to a late night and few adult beverages in college and since but still got to have priorities! It's not like they couldn't have gone out the next night and the night after that.

Somebody used the word "slander" in connection with posts on Ty. That's way over the top. I like him and he has many skills. He plays consistently hard on defense and he's a plus rebounder. I'm glad we've got him. But he can't shoot, and anybody with eyes knows it. And it's highly unlikely he'll develop a jump shot now. Players don't start learning that at age 20. So there's a hole in his game, but that's not "slander."
Especially since it’s written

Whoever has $1.5-$2M to buy him.
Double it
Can anyone point me at research showing the concrete financial value to the university of a team getting to a FF vs. just making the tournament? I'm looking for numbers vs. "more exposure is always good." I'm not finding solid sources.

I'm having a hard time believing these NIL numbers make anywhere near financial sense for the university vs. the alum donating the money to the university (for non NIL uses). I can certainly see certain boosters, with buckets of money and caring more about ego than actually doing good with the money (education, environment, healthcare, other, ... take your pick), making the payments.

And before the ad hominem attacks start, I'm not a bleeding heart. I have issues with them too. Actually, I just have issues; old engineering magazines anyone?

It's not the University paying the NIL money. 3rd party groups generally.
