It feels like the key to next year is getting a stud PG & another wing that can score buckets and a stretch 4 that can shoot it and stretch the d.
We have a lot of other pieces.
Feel like you can replace the stretch 4 with a 5. Would love to see the Illini get an actual rim protector and I I think Ty, Morez, and Amani can all play the 4.

Ideally I think Ty plays the 3 (he needs to develop a jumper) and Amani & Morez are 4's. If we could add a solid 5 that is mobile (I know, not easy to find), then we'd be set.

But agreed, that Amani & Morez are not true 5's at the college level.

I want a rim protector too. I love Coleman and wouldn't trade him for any other big man but I'm tired of watching every team dump the ball down low and score what seems like 100% of the time.

Ty will play the "3" a lot next season, Morez is a 5 all the way. Amani we will see if he's takes a step but he's not ready to be a starting 4 right now. So basically you don't want to give 30 mins a game to any 1 of them at the 4. You need to get a guy from the portal if you can.

How on earth did they think it was the right call to keep Woodsen? What do you think has led to the dysfunction for that team this year and obviously now with their losing a big time recruit?
$12M buyout for a basketball coach they just extended when they just bought out the football coach they had recently extended might have clouded their judgement.

But I agree, I’m shocked they didn’t have boosters lined up to pay the buyout.

Respectfully, he's at16 ppg on 13 shots a game, 31% usage w/ less than a assist per game

...all while allegedly asking for TSJ money. I personally wish him well elsewhere.

Respectfuly, TSJ was very similar when he was in the portal (high NIL ask) and then when he got here (was a chucker most of last year) and TSJ is viewed as our savior around here. And despite the usage numbers for Storr, he's averaging 16 pts a game in the Big Ten playing less than 30 minutes a game. Shot 40% from 3 last year and is big physical and athletic and already know he can produce in the Big Ten.

Well, TJ money wasn't TJ money 2 years ago. Sure, we'd probably pay Storr comparably to what we paid TJ to bring him in initially. But comparably to what he's likely pulling this year as a top 5 player nationally? That's reportedly what the ask is. Absolutely no way we give Storr 1st Team AA type money, at least I'd hope not.

Luke said on the Drive that he is coming back next year most likely...just an fyi (I believe him)

As far as transfers go, I expect a couple of guys to leave. Very confident in Luke, Amani, and Ty staying. We will see on the others. Expecting the staff to add 4-5 transfers, some 5th years, some multi year guys

The thing I don't get with Marcus: his injury year already doesn't count towards his current eligibility because it was the "COVID year". Not saying that's a deal-breaker, I'm just curious what our argument against that will be—and won't be surprised if that's what the NCAA bases their decision on.
Precedent. Parker Fox of Minnesota was injured in both 20-21 and 20-22 and is expected to be granted a 7th year of eligibility.

TSJ was never a "chucker" here. He's been primarily about getting downhill at every opportunity. There were two other individuals who held the role of "chucker" last year.

With the right coaching/development, Storr can be a superstar in college. Can't pass that up if you get the chance
I agree. He's got elite athleticism, good size, and a developing offensive arsenal. Give him a summer with Fletch and see what happens. We definitely need a "7 seconds or less" type of guy on offense next year. Storr can go get a bucket or draw a foul when the clock is winding down. He's a very similar player to TSJ when he came over from TT.
You don't see very many impact transfers within the conference, though... Maybe that will change.
