First the earth cooled, then the dinosaurs roamed the earth...

Then a big meteor came down and offed the dinos. And then these two-legged things with arms and thumbs took over and started to play a game with a round ball going through a round hoop. And as weird as that sounds... this game brought delight and joy to many of those two-legged things with arms.

And one day, a group of those two-legged things that wore colors of Blue and Orange and White coming from the prairies of the Midwest won a National Championship in the 21st Century. And then another, and another. And that brought even greater joy and delight to millions of fans of that group all over the World.

And then another big meteor came down and... and... everything had to start anew all over again. And all things were changed except for one. When a continent with a Midwestern part evolved again... another group of two-legged things came along and called themselves,’ The Illini’. But no one ever knew why. But they ended up pretty good at throwing the ball through the hoop, too. And they won more championships.

Some things are just meant to be.

The part that got me from the judges ruling is “there is some likelihood of success on the merits”. I took it as she is referencing the merits of the criminal charge case. I didn’t think that would be factored in? Perhaps I am reading it wrong.

Another thing RE: hostile fans on the road, does anyone think this will maintain the same steam at a constant rate? Perhaps an initial huge blowback, then a lull and then pick up again around his hearing? Perhaps just constant hate? Perhaps the first few games are really rough and by March it's not QUITE as bad? Either way, these are our games away from Champaign:

Wednesday 1/24 at Northwestern ... at least there will be tons of Illini fans!
Tuesday 1/30 at Ohio State ... their attendance sucks.
Saturday 2/10 at Michigan State ... likely pretty brutal.
Saturday 2/17 at Maryland ... likely bordering on dangerous.
Wednesday 2/21 at Penn State ... their attendance REALLY sucks.
Saturday 3/2 at Wisconsin ... very brutal if things remain at the same level.
Sunday 3/10 at Iowa ... I'll be at this one and I'M nervous, so yeah...
Thursday 3/14-Sunday 3/17 BTT in Minneapolis ... pretty much an away game given Illini fans alone will be a small minority at any one time (until we make the championship!)
though I think that PSU game is in their tiny old gym

She was not referencing the criminal charges. The judge granted the temporary restraining order (regarding the suspension) because (among other things) there is some likelihood that TSJ would win a permanent injunction against UIUC regarding the suspension.

The expectation is that he is back for the rest of the season
The 5th dimension had a song that went....when the moon is in the seventh house and Jupiter aligns with Mars....I deal with situations where the desired result is extremely unlikely. Rather than say no way or in your dreams I used to say...when the moon...Now you get some disagreement but there is some thought that happens every 800 years or so but who is counting. Now I can't opine on everything but some last minute legal happening which would prevent him from playing the rest of the year? When the moon......

Why are you so bitter? In fact perhaps there was a window left open so a player would be able to do what Shannon did and that is take the matter to court and be reinstated.
It's easy to see why he is so bitter. He was made to look the fool by the Judge's ruling. He came in talking with absolutes and was so cocksure of himself that this TRO would be denied. Yet here we are with the TRO granted with an indefinite time on it unless overturned or superseded by another Court.
