You’d better get your resume in order.
Accomplishments
*plays funky zone defenses
*poor usage of timeouts

This is actually what I predicted back to my UT people. I think they really want to keep Beard, and I think he’ll get suspended for the rest of the season without pay.

That allows his recruits to still play for him next year. Rodney Terry has the resume to take over the interim.

Also gets them to the spring/summer, when football takes over everything in the news again, and he can operate in the background. Then when he returns and finally gets asked about it next year, he can hide behind the “my lawyer said I can’t say anything about this” schtick, and it will have been long enough that the news cycle just doesn’t care about it anymore.

1.Funky Zone(s): that can work.

2. TO’s: No one cares unless you lose.

HS State Elite Eight > Good JUCO>Assistant 1.5 years at Duquesne…and you’re in…

There it’s all planned out for ya.,.

Beard: So basically, the Jim Boeheim wait out the news cycle bit, and then it’s business as usual and do as you damn please.

I don’t know what the investigation is gonna show. But, this thing looks pretty
bad. If the worst evidence against him…thusfar, ends up being corroborated and they do what you
envision them doing…that would be one of the more morally bankrupt decisions of all time.

Love how his attorney says innocent of all charges. Read the complaint again and the injuries she sustained. This guy and all men who hit women are garbage. He should be done coaching.
This is what makes me think there is no way they can keep him. You can explain away yelling, screaming and maybe a red face, but that report is way, way beyond that.

If and when Beard is let go from Texas, don’t be surprised if they make a run for BU.

Agree.

However, I read something about “he wasn’t the main aggressor”, suggesting some sort of self defense claim.

Trash of a man who can’t just walk away from a domestic situation.

The contract is structured so that the buyout is pretty large early on. A school would really really really have to want Underwood. I would think Texas will kick the tires for sure since he coached in Texas for quite some time and has some B12 connections but I am betting it would take a substantial raise ( he's already top 10 or 12 in pay) + paying the full buyout to lure him away, and even that might not work. Whitman would also counter the offer I am sure since he seems to be all-in on this staff.

Even if she was the instigator, he needs to just leave the house until she calms down. The only bruises she should have after this are on her knuckles.

Hard to claim self defense when you choke the other party and they had marks to prove it.

I agree, he is trash, and I hope Texas takes out the trash appropriately and he doesn't get another dime.

Yeah, exactly.
Unless she had a Samurai sword in one hand and a bazooka in the other… I’m thinking his defense doesn’t quite hold up so well.

The report seems to suggest she instigated by breaking his glasses to which he responded by smacking hers off her face and then everything else that happened, including the choking and dragging her off the bed by her leg. Not even close to excusable if that's the case.

I really cant see a way Beard survives this
I agree with you. But, I read/heard this exact same opinion numerous times regarding Juwan Howard after he hit a Wisconsin assistant in front of thousands in person and likely millions on TV. If true, Beard's actions were far worse but not witnessed by anyone but the participants. Howard's actions were bad/unacceptable (but clearly not even close to as bad) and witnessed by many, and scUM still found a way to justify retaining him. These institutions will find a way to justify their actions, even if those decisions are counter to common or moral sense, especially if they thinks their bottom line will not be hurt.

I hear you, but Beard's sins are WAY WAY worse

Howard should have been fired, but the scUM AD didnt have the stones

I can’t prove it; but I feel like scUM
probably scores significantly higher on the
sleazy-O- meter.

It will be interesting to see how Texas plays this for sure.

This news about Beard comes less than two weeks after this came out: ‘(Nebraska Football Coach) Mickey Joseph Arrested For Assault’... So as the pressures of College Ball get more and more intense... the need for care and a healthy safety-value for that stress grows by the day. It’s time for institutions to start to get ahead of this right now.

Now Mike Leach is gone. Three serious situations of three Coaches from top University programs all within a two-week period.

The details of these sad situations may differ. But the intense pressures upon these men is something they all experience. As well as all the other Coaches.

Work-Life balance is critical these days. And many Coaches of sports organizations have a problem with that. Any medical professional who knows anything will tell you that stress is very damaging to the body and mind.

All Coaches want to win. That’s what the Game is all about. And that’s what Their future employment rests upon. And all fans want ‘Their’ team to win every game and every season. But maybe all this pressure has reached its limit. Maybe that’s what all this is trying to tell us.

When you think about how many people are involved in putting a team out there every day... not to mention the players and their families... there are countless families and individuals involved in these programs. And they create a team family in addition to their own.

This will be a sad holiday time for many families around these programs. Tragedy never takes a holiday.
