I am encouraged by Coleman today in his limited 14 minutes.. He forced a few MSU turnovers that don't show up in the box score. Had no turnovers himself and other than going 1for 4 he played well. He rebounded and moved the ball well in his limited 14 minutes He didn't force things and played sound solid game. I hope we see his minutes at the 4 go up. Hawk is getting better as his confidence grows. I think he brings a presence at the 4 others can't and will be needed against guys like Hall today and Liddell on Thursday. I'd like to see Hawk at the 4 and Jacob at the 3.
You say “other than going 1-4,” but remember at least one of those was chucked up off balance from distance as clock expired.

Coleman ‘Hoop Nazi’ Hawkins… No hoop for you!!!
This.

The only complaint (that is too strong a word also - I just don’t know what I would call it?) with BU’s game today was when he got trapped with Payne in the game looking for the under 8 minute time out.

You just knew Payne would miss the front end, MSU would come down and hit a 3 and BU would need a time out to get Kofi back in.

I know he was trying to steal minutes to get to the under 8 TO, just worked out terribly for us.

I think we should give Hawkins some back up minutes at the 5 when Kofi rests. He is every bit as good a shot blocker as Payne and a much much better offensive player. Obviously you can’t do that against a Purdue type center, but he is 6’10”. He played very well today, and Payne just is really an issue any time he is on the floor.

In fact, Payne pretty much has to have Curbello out there with him as his only offense is the lobs that Dre throws for him. I am pretty sure those same plays could be run for Hawkins?

Payne needs some work to be a serviceable big in the BIG, hope that comes next year as we are going to need him. Hard to believe he was ranked only 1 spot behind Kofi coming out of HS.

Based on Brad’s reactions during the play, don’t think that was the plan.
Not what I'm seeing. But if you're looking for something negative I suppose you can use the video to support about any theory.

I'm going with the theory that the fifth year senior, generally accepted to be one of the headier players ever to suit up for Illinois, actually ran the play that the coach wanted.

You say “other than going 1-4,” but remember at least one of those was chucked up off balance from distance as clock expired.im sure he would say he wishes he had made more shots himself. That being said it's a limited sample size and he didn't force shots. If he gets clean looks going forward ge will do fine. That's one reason I hope he plays more. I don't think he shot bad today on just 4 shots but he didn't take bad ones or force them. I am very encouraged by his play and finally feel good about him playing well and with confidence Earlier I didn't want him starting or playing much due to focus and lack of confidence but I kind of wish he and Jacob both did now.

So happy for the guys. If we play this way the rest of the year, we can beat anybody.

Izzo is whining about officiating. Was complimentary in a somewhat backhanded way about Trent. He thinks Kofi is getting away with murder while we all think he’s getting hacked on every play. Wasn’t very complimentary of Brad either. “He’s gotten a couple of good player”

The game had passed Izzo by and he knows it. He has a couple years left MAX.
